Your opinion on a complain with Betway
I have this complaint ongoing with Betway.

They support staff gave me bad info twice, which missleaded me to bet and loose a couple of bets.

I asked them if overtime was included in a total goals market. The betting slip and page didnt mentionned overtime. Which all the other betting sportbooks does. They said no, that it didnt include overtime, twice. I wanted to be sure. I made screenshots of this. So I bet accordingly. However, their rules state the opposite. When i notice my bet were lost, I immediatly contacted them.

The admitted they gave me false info over their emails, but they still refuse to give me a refund or better, my wins (which would be about 350$).

They say that it's my responsibility, as a customer to understand the relevant Terms and Conditions prior to placing your wager.

Still they offer me a 50$ free bet (stake not returned).

What do you think? Fair enought?

If they gave you incorrect information which cost you $350 and you have verifiable documentation of this, a $50 free bet is absolutely not acceptable.

Betway can be quite annoying. Of all the stateside books in Iowa and we have plenty -- whenever I've withdrawn funds from Betway of any amount, they are the slowest to pay by days.

They literally e-mail me every time asking me to give them a "reason" for withdrawing. .....Because I want my money?

It's the only Iowa legal outfit I will not post at anymore.

So they admitted they were wrong and you actually won the games and you have their e-mails proving it yet they are still blaming you even though you did ask them ahead of time . That is BS the $50 they owe you $350 .

I think he rightly lost the games as per their terms... but when he asked live chat they gave different rules (that followed other books)

When you asked did you point out the discrepancy between their rules and what they were telling you before the bet was placed?

The agreed terms always over ride what anyone tells you.

There is not an option to avoid reading terms by asking CS staff for an opinion.

A goodwill freeplay is the most you should expect and in my many years experience is more than most bookmakers would do for this type of complaint theses days.

The reason they will not do more these days is the number of people who quiz CS staff until they get an answer they know is wrong and then bet hoping force the book to grade that way.

From your description I assume you are talking about a European basketball bet here?

What was the exact bet and odds?

And what state are you in?
            .

              Actually, this seems correct.

However, in that case, I can't think of any good reason to have CS ever do anything in similar cases except refer you (via link, or whatever) to the book rules. They shouldn't be attempting to answer questions where giving the wrong answer potentially has a material effect, especially if referring to the book rules is what we're supposed to do anyway.

Last week, I asked CS at BetRivers about a discrepancy in one of their promotions. It was:

Over 5.5 finishes (All 9 fights must take place for action) for the UFC card. I was confused because there were actually 12 fights on the card. When I inquired about it, the CS gave me the wrong information. I actually ended up figuring out the right info on my own, but I'm sure others didn't. That's a case, though, where I don't think you can just refer to the book because the way they wrote the promotion was vague and wouldn't have been resolved by referring to their rules.

While I understand it is not the case, I think if you're a rep of an organization and you're empowered with the ability to answer questions about the rules, there should be some expectation you're giving good info.

Yes, I asked because it was not stated. I was skeptikal when I asked. I said "Are you sure?" a couple of times! Their book of rules is not easy to get, your have to read twice and ask your lawyers.

If you haven’t tried to pull anything like this before and you give them business I think they should pay you. If you signed up just to make this bet I can see their point of view. They are idiots if you’re a regular customer though. It costs easily that much to acquire new customers.

I've had this happen at a couple of books (5Dimes, Heritage, Youwager). They universally have said that their listed rules are what matters and they're not responsible for what their agents say. Even got yelled at by 5Dimes Tony "for not knowing better." Live chat screenshots haven't swayed them
