BetOnline Not Paying Out $4,425 Winning Sports Wager
I had some live bets that were graded as a loss, but should have been a win, resulting in BetOnline stealing $4,425 from me.

I placed live bets on the U4.5 goals line in the Sweden/Finland IIHF game on 5/18/2022.

While the final score of the game was 3-2, the score at the end of regulation was 2-2. Per the house rules currently posted on the website, for IIHF games, "all bets will be settled based on the score at the end of regulation time." And while they have a live-betting rules page, it does not contain any rules for hockey.

The response I got from BetOnline after I contacted them that same day (5/18/2022):
"Regarding the bets, just double checked them and can confirm they're properly graded. The bet says "match", which includes overtime. For it to be regulation time only, the bet must've said "regulation time only."

Their live betting page for IIHF games does not even offer a "regulation time only" option. So it's up to the bettor to infer that "Match Total" includes OT, despite the fact that it directly contradicts their house rules which clearly state that ALL bets will be settled based on the result at the end of regulation.

I sent two follow-up emails, both of which have been ignored for over a week, so at this point they are simply ghosting me.

I would post screenshots but I'm not seeing a way to add attachments to my post here.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Would be interesting to find a game tied near end of regulation and see what the live line looks like. You could Infer that if they have under 4.5 line when a game is tied 2-2 late that they are free Rolling under bettors. Since under 4.5 would be impossible if they include overtime right? I don’t know that league …

SBR do not adjudicate for Betonline or offshore books any longer.

Their Dave Mason is helpful getting things fixed or explained. https://twitter.com/davemasonbol

          He does answer DMs.

Can someone please post a screenshot of a live IHF total market as offered so we can see exactly how it is framed?

I cannot bypass the geo-blocking for their Live Betting section from here.

              Here's a somewhat higher-resolution version that I grabbed on 5/19:

It was my understanding for BOL that over/under for international hockey for live wagering includes OT. Reg (no OT) is only applicable if you bets for the entire game (non-live wagering). There's no specific rules as BOL is very shading in having general and vague rules. I don't think you will win but good luck.

To add to this.... typically most books when doing LIVE WAGERING always includes OT.... it will typically state (OT NOT INCLUDED) in a header somewhere. Or (Regulation Time Only)

Not trying to discourage the OP here... but you always have to assume OT in a wager.

if you look at the screenshot, there are separate lines for "moneyline-match" and "draw no bet"... so the draw no bet option looks like regulation only, and the moneyline-match includes ot?

weird stuff since international hockey usually doesn't include ot

If any of the following were true, then I would agree this should be graded as an L:

                          1) if the house rules state that live bets include OT. Instead, their rules specifically state that for IIHF games, "All bets will be settled based on the score at the end of regulation time." As I said above, their live betting rules page does not include anything for hockey.
                          Hockey Rules (betonline.ag)

                          2) If the betting screen, or betslip, noted that OT is included. It doesn't. It simply says "match total" and you're supposed to infer that it includes OT?

However neither of those is the case. And there is no "typical" for how the books handle this - some include OT for international hockey and some don't. So you can't safely assume one way or the other. Normally I would suggest that you defer to the house rules, but that's what I did here and got screwed, so... good luck out there.

Correct, for moneyline there is a distinction. For total goals, there isn't. So again, nothing to indicate to the bettor one way or the other.

The resolution wasn't good. I was trying to see the photos. But I'll take your word for it.

Before I wager anything LIVE... I triple check everything. You never know what they'll throw in the wording.
