I would guess sides about $5,000 limit online at USA accepted (A) books.

You would guess wrong. Way too high for pre-season games.

Yeah most don’t allow that much. Maybe 1K. Bookmaker is showing 2k for full game. Wondering what the side will be.

So how do you find a statistical advantage in games that are trials, do not have any pressure to win and no idea of coach plans for who to play?

I understand that you have lost your tail and are contemplating all sorts of nonsense, but in the unlikely event that you want to put money down on one of these games, you may want to use what little common sense you seem to possess and try to figure out who needs it more. Who is playing for a starting position. Thing like that.

QB battles and preseason records for coaches seems to be the two variables people use. Spreads always seem to come down to 4th stringers who will be washing cars soon, though, which is why I stopped betting preseason a couple years ago.

There is a reason why they don't take much on preseason. Books are vulnerable. If you get a little more info sooner than they do you can do damage.

There's a handful of coaches that still seem to think these games count for something. John Harbaugh and Mike Zimmer in particular. Peter Carroll at one point as well, he might be far enough removed from USC now and realize he's not trying to impress any voters.
