    PaNetMa ISP
I imagine not many on here from Panama, but felt like I would get this out there for the archives. It is very difficult to get a stable internet connection with any kind of speed in Panama. I have probably tried them all at one time or the other.

Panetma is my new current provider and am recommending them to everyone i see. Speed, reliability and gringo customer service.

I will never forget Cableonda's response to me when i was complaining that i was receiving only half the speed i was paying for. My spanish stinks, so I had my secretary/interpreter take over the phone to see if i was hearing the response right. It translated just as I thought:

"Senor, you get what you get!!"

What kind of speeds you get? I always assumed Panama City should have pretty good ones.

EPM Medellin is more consistent than i had in the USA. It's not nearly as fast as I'd like it (3MB down), nor cheap, but it's getting better.

I just had some horrid speeds traveling on supposed broadband lines.

You can buy residential up to abt 4mb download and that comes with abt 400kbps upload. Costs abt 100 per month for that. BUT, it never comes up to that level. You are generally lucky to see half of that.

The real pain comes with the "packet loss". Remember how Pinny used to get just prior to prime time? Or how it gets now on saturday mornings? Its like you are in mud. If you do a speed test it might come back "ok", but the packet loss and QoS is just terrible.

I never met/spoke to a cs tech at Cableonda or Cable and Wireless that had a clue what packet loss meant.

What I have now is 2mb up and 2mb down. blows away anything else i ever used.
