Beware, Make Sure You are Aware of All Bonus Terms.
I'm not a big gambler. I like to bet a few bucks on football game so I have someone to root for. I do it for fun. I know the house usually wins when guys like me bet. I used a bookie in the past but he wouldn't take future bets. So I read reviews of BetOnline before this season. They were mostly positive. So I decided to give it a whirl.

Initial deposit was $400. I used the bonus code that they advertise. It was a huge mistake. The rollover on my $400 deposit is $11,200. I didn't even notice it. I lost my freeplay right away and when I signed up I checked the payout rules - they say to claim any freeplay winnings you have to meet the rollover, or you have to forfeit them. So I figured I was in the clear.

I blew through the initial $400. I made 2 more deposits totaling about $650. Put most of that into futures. Some of them are starting to come in. So I tried to cash out for $500.

Nope. Their bonus rules state that in order to EVER cash out from them you have to meet the rollover. EVER. I could make 10 more deposits. It wouldn't matter.

I've spoken with multiple customer service reps. They all talk to me like I'm a 5 year old about what a rollover is. The average Joe is never going to make $400 rollover to the point that they hit $11,200. Unless they get really lucky. The bonus rules specifically state that they can take it away from you if they think you are a sharp.

So who is the bonus for exactly? In my opinion, its a scam. They advertise those codes all over their site. So some schmuck like me will plug it in. Then when we win, we can't touch our winnings. We have to keep betting until we reach an unattainable rollover and we lose whatever we have by then.

I'm aware that it is my own fault for not reading their entire rule section. I assumed freeplay/payout rules were enough. I was wrong. I'm also aware that I have no recourse. They'll never let me cash out. I just have to try for that absurd rollover.

I know these numbers are small stakes, especially compared to some of you big guys in here. But it's still my money. I work hard for it. To be treated like an idiot because I accepted the scam of a code you advertised doesn't make me want to continue betting online. My old bookie was a lot more honest than BetOnline.

I recommend any average Joe bettor like me avoid BetOnline. If you don't want to take my recommendation, at least avoid those awful bonus offers they give you so you aren't in the same predicament I'm in. You're better off setting your money on fire.

Normally, when your balance falls to zero, they will reset your rollover to 0. Ask them about it.

they are solid A book....have a nice calculator right on main page that shows rollover balance...You hit zero balance it resets...now do remember you may have a zero balance and have open wagers that may cause it not to reset....Chat them and they will explain as there is a reason...No reason to beware unless you played live blackjack

Appreciate the heads up. I did chat with them a few times. They just keep explaining to me how they calculate the rollover and what my rollover numbers are. I did have pending bets when I hit zero (I like future bets). I think the "beware" is more than warranted. So schmucks like me who just got into online betting know to avoid this scam.

I still think it is a scam, but yes I'd like to make sure others who search out potential betting sites are aware - avoiding the ignorance part that I am dealing with.

You think the way they handle bonuses is reasonable? They take it away from you if you are non-recreational, idk what the standard for that is. Won't pay you until you hit that rollover if you are recreational. Recreational means you're likely to lose your money by the time you hit a 30x rollover doesn't it?

This is how sportsbook bonuses work. They aren't 100% free money. If you think that's a scam you're welcome to your opinion, but you should probably change the title of your thread to "Beware of sportsbook bonuses".

I guess you’re right. I knew it wasn’t free money. And I knew how the rollover worked. Just assumed the rollover was directly related to the free play and that’s it. If I won money separately or reloaded it wouldn’t be a part of that. How do I change the title?

                              Their rules.

I’ve since read them in their entirety and admitted to not reading the bonus rules. I’ve learned my lesson. The purpose of my post was to inform others so they don’t make the same mistake when they use this forum to decide on a book. This clearly doesn’t apply to you because you are all knowing. Appreciate your help.
