Sportsbook "Know Your Customer" ID Requirements (safe?)

The sportsbook playersonly.ag has implemented a "Know Your Customer" requirement, where they want the following forms of ID:
Color copy of your Driver's License
Utility bill with your name and address

Is this normal for online sportsbooks?
Has anyone provided this for any sportsbook or specifically to playersonly.ag?
Can this be used for Identity Theft?

I have done it at several books. Standard procedure. Can it be used to steal your identity? I guess but so can doing pretty much anything nowadays. Even using your card at a store is risky with all the security breaches. Very unlikely the sports book will commit fraud on you though. It's basically just a way for them to protect themselves from scammers.

Playersonly is one of the Sportsbook.ag books

Sounds like they are gearing up for mainstream licensing if they are doing blanket KYC, properly, now.



@JoeKing... it sucks and I agree it's an ID theft risk but this is what the rest of the world has to deal with for just about every book we use. And to be fair, you dont hear about identity theft related to bookmaker allegations much that I know of.
