5dimes error, but they're 'not responsible'

Tonight at Evangeline Downs, in race 4, 5Dimes mistakenly scratched 2 horses who actually ran, the #5 and #7 horses. When I contacted them PRIOR TO THE RACE and asked what would happen if one of the scratched horses hit the board, they said 'according to our rules, if we receive wrong information from our providers, we are not responsible.'

In this case, the #5 horse ran second, meaning 5Dimes kept ALL exacta, trifecta and superfecta wagers, because it was impossible to make a winning combination.


A responsible book would have either stopped taking wagers on the race or refund any combination that wouldn't have been possible, 5Dimes chose neither.

how do you know they took the entire pool of wagers?

did you make a wager that was effected by this?

I asked them specifically what would happen if one of the scratched horses affected exotic wagers, and they said there would be no refunds, since it was the providers error, not theirs.

yes, that issue is outside of 5dimes, not sure if equibase or tvg made the mistake, if the scratched horse hit the board is a 0% to pay any bet since no one will hit, but if the horse miss the board????, like race 8, 5 was scratched by provider but didnt hit the board... my opinion bets should be cancelled/refunded, is same when a line manager made a mistake, the book present the wrong information and prefers to void and not pay the bet...

In this case 5Dimes was the only place I know where these horses were scratched. BRIS and Equibase didn't, the track didnt, TVG didnt, I expected to see how this error happened, but 5dimes just blamed 'their provider'.
