IMO bookies can limit or permanent ban any player whenever they want. Problem in your case is that they refuse to pay out winning after they have opened and verified your account, they also allowed you to place bets with them, so that means that they agreed to pay winnings you should win or to get your money if you lose. There is probably no legal basis to confiscate your winnings once they have accepted your bets.

Do you know if you are dealing with the main UK Sportingbet company or one of the regional franchises? Same question for your original account? (what country are you in?)

Unfortunately they can refuse service or ban you indefinitely/forever and do not even need to give a reason for doing so. But they need to pay your winnings first still.

Are they saying there was any problem with your original account? Was it closed by the company as they did not want your business or was it just a dormant account you had stopped using? Do you recall if that account had any non-standard betting limits imposed?

I hope you will remember all your (50-100) accounts 20-30 (in my case this is only 5) years later when you open a new account ...

If it is just a forgotten dormant account and he hasn't claimed any bonuses he would not have been otherwise entitled to, then whatever the terms say I think it would fail the test of reasonableness to confiscate the balance.

Sounds like they have some joint responsibility for not detecting the old account during the KYC process too. If at least the player name and date of birth are exact matches on both.

if they took his deposit, sure - the book is at fault. But he wants the winnings.
I dont think its unreasonable to say if you are banned from a book and open a new account, then you might not get paid winnings...

Definitely. And if banned it is not up to the book to detect you before making bets either.

But this guy sounds like he just forgot an old account and says he hasn't taken any bonuses with the new one. As long as the old account wasn't restricted in any way I don't think it would be fair to enforce multi account rules on him. :\

I do not remember where was my first account registered. (uk or other)
I think the new one was registered at uk because in my country (Hungary) the regional franchise was blocked. Sportingbet has alternate urls for hungarian: for example: hu.sportingbet538.com but i did not know about it, it is not public, there is no redirecting from the main page because it is blocked. I do not remember why sportingbet closed my account, but i think they did want me to play there.

When you sign up for most books, it will say "you have not had an account here before", or something similar...
It not the books fault he cant remember, or has 50-100 books to track.
Sure in a nice world, and as a gesure of goodwill - he should be paid - but to demand it or expect it, is unreasonable.

But if it was closed simply due to being inactive you have a case.

See if you can find out an answer to this question from them if possible. It will make a big difference.

If you don't get a helpful reply from the main site maybe have a second try with the Hungarian site support email address.

I'll see if I can find out what has happened with your complaint submission too.

i will admit it is poor that your details didnt shoot up flags that you already had an account...but i think you and i both know what your trying to do here.....and why play so dumb? you say you have had over 60 accounts at different books? why? surely you must be aware that books will heavily restrict or close your account altogether...dont play dumb my friend....

if this really was a genuine issue and you really do have genuine accounts at 60+ books, i would highly recommend you creat a spread sheet for yourself so you know what your details are to prevent this from happening in future....

optional your the man around here i always respect your posts, but i am surprised you arent more questionable of this guy, who knows maybe its just me being ruthless as you see these kind of guys all the time with the same old thing, so maybe i should be nicer but the whole thing sounds ridiculous.....

registered the account but doesnt do a deposit for 8 months? and if he knew he had all these accounts over the years surely you would ask the question first? i mean if your a genuine punter and not trying to take shots at the books and have them over surely the first thing you do is try your usual details or do forgotten password....

something doesnt add up i know sportingbet are crap but i cant imagine they are THAT crap that their systems dont flag up the same name and DOB.....and even if it doesnt how shit must their verification team be if they allowed it after the fact....just doesnt seem right for me...surely if it was a genuine mistake they would pay winnings out, i think they have to....must be more to the story....
