Are there not any online betting exchanges for the U.S. Player?

Still no exchange since February 2013 when bookmaker/DSI closed up betmaker.ag . Hard to believe really when in reality you only really need about 50 or so solid players willing to make lines/offers and make trades. Really need an exchange come football season and basketball season. Without it sports betting is very dull. People want to show their creative side and not be stuck in the dark ages. Hard to believe with all this technology we have taken major steps backward.

People thought when Bookmaker acquired Betmaker they would make something big out of it, instead they made it disappear. No one ever tried to make another Betmaker re-appear. Probably too difficult and unprofitable to run without massive seeding.

U.S. players also have more of a "cowboy" mentality. They want to crush the bookie, destroy the bookie, beat up the bad bookie. Can't do that at an exchange.

well, if you believe JJ, American punters are just too stupid to cope with an exchange

It's the old chicken-and-egg critical mass problem. You really need a ton of players to make it worthwhile for someone to spend time seeding markets, and you won't get players unless they can match a bet at a good price pretty often.

It's the perfect application for Bitcoin, but unfortunately the guys who have the technology chops to put something together don't have a clue how to interface with the betting market.

Love the domain name but agree that it seems weird a Bitcoin focused exchange would be offering props about if other bitcoin businesses will lose customer money or not this year.

Actually, sounds like a interesting way to insure your balance in another book. The only problem is that you have to trust the book you are making that bet at.

Apart from golf I rarely bet sports at Betfair any more.

I never used Betdaq - it just didn't appear to me to be anywhere near as good as Betfair.
But Matchbook is excellent. Don't know what you're problem with them is.
Even though I'm on a decently discounted commission with Betfair, I can almost always get better net odds for my bets at Matchbook than I can at Betfair, SBO and Pinnacle.
I'm very sure both Betfair and Matchbook would get enormous amounts of business from the US if they were able to accept them as customers.

his "main point" was that they failed because US punters are stupid
but you are saying the other failed exchanges didn't accept US punters
my point is that they aren't stupid, they have just lacked decent opportunity to use a good exchange

matchbook has seeded volume by owners daily

It is very easy to follow their money and flow and tell

Decent liquidity for American Sports..tennis and soccer so so

Its not a bad thing though and real safe top shelf book
