    Nitrogen -- Hidden Juice
So I've been using Nitrogen since the start of football season. Primarily attracted to the use of bitcoins and the immediate deposit/withdrawal options. I've been a little disappointed that they have more juice than 5Dimes (at least within 24 hours of game time). The real problem, is that their lines have hidden juice. For instance, if you go to any of their college football lines right now and look at their lines (the standard is -107) and open a bet slip and enter 1.0 btc in the "to win" box, you will find you actually have to risk 1.07411 BTC to win 1 BTC. At -107, it should be risk 1.07 BTC to win 1.0. But they are hiding a little extra juice in their line. It is a small amount, and once you know about it, you can adjust as necessary, but I find it dishonest and unethical.

I guess 5Dimes will still be my primary book when the lines are the same....

If you use decimal odds the juice is not hidden. I can see this being annoying especially if you are a big bettor but when it takes seconds to sign up, you are shown the exact odds before any bet is confirmed and you can withdraw your coins without even having rolled them over I don't think it is a massive deal.

It's the same in reverse if you're betting at Pinnacle with decimal odds view. They can only show the nearest equivalent to the actual odds you are betting at, which in Pinnacle's case is US odds.

Ok, that's a reasonable explanation. Still, there has to be a better way to deal with that then simply not mentioning it...

I'd be very surprised if they don't explain it in their terms.

There is no way to handle an exact conversion from decimal to US without adding a decimal point to the US line. -107.0413 for example.

Right, but why not express the American line exactly like that, -107.0413. That would at least make sense and be totally transparent....

if i'm not mistaken, you're complaining about 41cents on a 1000 $ bet ? furthermore, they are correct in doing so, math 101 teaches you how to round off numbers, and 107.0413 rounds off to 107 when not using decimals. otherwise you could wind up getting numbers like 110.005678943569999. how would that look to
              you?

I think you're the one who needs a lesson in math 101.

my example with 110.00567894356999 is not an actual math result but to show you how ridiculous it is if numbers are not rounded off. even showing 107.0413 is ridiculous. imagine a coupon with 10 place decimal odds. and what about money lines -- will they have 15 decimal places? they have to be rounded off.end of story. get over it.

You may note that in my original example, it the fair American expression is -107.411, not -107.0411. Sure, that's still only $4 on a $1000 bet, but it is also not an insignificant amount over the course of 100 bets where I hope to win 55 of them. Further, if I'm choosing where to place the bet, I want the exact odds, not an approximation.

And your math 101 class could properly suggest "rounding off" to two decimal places. I agree, you would never need to go to 10 decimal places for a fair conversion of Decimal to American odds. Nitrogen expresses decimal odds to the 1/1000 (i.e. 1.880). A fairer conversion to American odds would be -113.64, only two decimal places. Anything past that would truly be minuscule (at least to me). That's not exactly overwhelming, and is pretty easy to convert in a way that more accurately reflects the actual line and not to an absurd 10 decimal places.

i only quoted you from above as stated at -107.0413. furthermore all books quote american lines as whole numbers. i don't recall ever seeing an american line with decimal points. (bitcoin books excepted ).
