The best way to deposit checks

Hi guys,

First time experience with a check payout option from 5Dimes. I have tried to deposit the check to my bank account using the iphone app but it says i need to go to the bank for this. The check is coming from UP NORTH. What is the best bet to cash this check; simply go to bank and cash it or go to some check cashing place ?

I tried to cash an "up North" check via the mobile app for my bank and it got turned down the next day. Just go down there in person and say someone on the phone said you had to do it in person.

yeah, exactly did the same way. Now i am waiting for it to clear in my account, will keep here informed

If you go into the bank and they say it will be sent to collections, take your check back IMMEDIATELY and say you will take your business elsewhere. Plenty of banks will be more than happy to take the check and have it available within 2 days.

I walked into the bank and deposited, was available the next day. I bank with Mells Pargo, the lady did ask what it was for. I wanted to say none of your dam business. I just told her I did some "remote IT work for a company up north". best thing I could think of at the moment, but she bought it lol.

They ask me too when I get my checks and it's like - seriously? Why do you need to know? My bank said foreign checks won't go via ATM or mobile app. Mine cashed without issue though. Only 1 was Canadian though.

Mine had no issues through the ATM.

ATM's that read the check will usually reject it and tell you to go to a teller. Best just to go inside in person.
