Who has better commission rates between the two?

    BAUS
I've found Matchbook to have greater liquidity than Betfair for US sports.

Matchbook commission is effectively about 2%. Betfair's minimum commission is 2% for those with very large turnovers. New customers pay 5% on winnings in most markets.

      Thank you Hareeba.

I see no need for me to use Betfair at this time. I will remain with Matchbook.

      Leave me alone Webber.

Hareeba does have a point, but it's still like doing business with robin hood just because he only applies the PC to the super rich, so I can understand BAUS too.

If you are only into US sports, you are not missing out on anything, matchbook is great for that.

          Thanks,

I gave this a try Mike and for a while it seemed ok.

But today I've discovered that the only markets it is displaying are the MLs. No totals and no handicap lines unless you select "show full markets" but then you get only one game at a time. There is more than ample room to display all three markets for all games.
So I attempted to switch back from binary to back/lay but the system just returned "error" and wouldn't do it.
Neither would it restore default settings.

And worse still, unmatched bets aren't shown on the betting page as they are on the "classic" site. You have to go and look under reports for details of matched and unmatched bets! Horrible setup.

I'm back on the "classic" site.

I don't get why matchbook obviously did not hire some traders for beta testing. Those people bringing in the main turnover still sticking with the classic site.

If you just bet usa sports the only value for betfair is live in game trading on usa events on tv in the uk..great volume

Euro sports betfair is a must

Just out of interest, when are you lot, and betdq were the same, ever going to be like betfair once and for all and open much much more sports up in play, pre game betting is ok but i make all my money in play.

its the main reason that none of betfairs competitors ever really take a foothold. just nowhere near enough in play options.

                    Hi RedDevil1974,

Live betting is something we're working hard at the moment - problem for an exchange is we need market-makers in there providing liquidity to offer it properly.

In the last few months, we've rolled out live Cricket, NFL, NBA and Rugby Union and will continue to add more live betting over the next few months. We'll also be increasing our live soccer offering significantly in the new year.

                    Thanks,

                    Mike

Ip betting is massive worldwide. V poor not to have it.

Joined MB last month and am liking what I find. 1% commission is great compared to betfair, even though I am supposedly a VIP there (Received nothing in the way of a gift/freebie in the last 3 years despite paying £500+ commission a WEEK!!)

I really hope MB takes off big time, and puts Betfair out of business. Just dont get greedy like betfair, keep it 1% for everyone forever!!!

A suggestion: make inplay markets similar to Betfair, where you charge commission on net P&L, its the only way you will be able to compete for in-play action!. Keep the 1% for all pre-match bets.

If you're paying that much in commission at Betfair, unless you are on premium charge, you should have quite a high commission discount factor and be paying no more than 3% commission?

Yes, that's more than Matchbook's but you pay it only on wins at Betfair whereas Matchbook charge you on losing bets too. So a fairer comparison of rate makes Matchbook's effectively 2%, not 1%. And what's more you don't pay it on net market result like at Betfair so if you're trading, Matchbook's commission isn't as low as you may think.

As for freebies, perhaps it depends on where you live but I've received lots of them from Betfair. None of great value but still nice to get them. Not a single thing from Matchbook.

Why do some NFL halftimes come off the board WAY TOO SOON? Mike, there has to be a way to take the 2h market off the board at approximately the right time. Today the Patriots 2h came off the board about 4-5 minutes too soon and cost me $3000.

I agree with Baus. Matchbook needs to run 2nd hf nfl games at least up until there is 1 min left on donbest. This way players know within the last minute if they should hit the market or not.
