It Takes a Village: Rehabilitating SBR's Image
The SBR site has lost a lot in the prior two years. Monetary wise the forum users can only speculate on the health of the site in stands of money. Was BI a grab, a golden parachute, or a pull the plug on a venture gone bad? We, the forum users, will never know. Legends had a business model that kept assets within reach of the US govt. SBR's influence over the situation afterwards again we will never know.

So it comes to a point. Many quality posters and forum members have bailed ship. Anyone that lost money in the BI fiasco may never come back. Healing has to occur or the plug has to be pulled.

In the terms of healing and change, I will make a course of suggestions over the weeks...who am I? Nobody...I remember what SBR was three years ago. I liked SBR three years ago...now I just visit to see the implosions and to vent.

Suggestion #1 : Eliminate all SBR PRO Perks

The SBR Pro title has one main use. It has a better chance of ensuring that the person making the post is not a ghost account. In that spirit, eliminate the points for all forum posters for logging in and such. Make the SBR Pro program a verification of the uniqueness of the poster. Take the points given out and give a percentage of them in the poker tournaments and daily contests. Let skill reign instead of showing up. It is time to let the field go fallow. Weed down the posters to the ones that want to post and the people that want to enhance their skill through new daily and weekly contests in sports handicapping, poker, and casino issues.

There are a lot of changes that need to be made but they must be slow and all accomplished before football season. A complete and swift reformating of the SBR PRO program.

Next suggestion in next thread will be about SBR ratings...

every idiot or genius has the right to post. and I want to hear from both and decide for myself. don't think weeding anyone out is good. just seems arrogant to think some posters are better for one reason or another.

The points and Pro program is exactly the point where SBR jumped the shark.

Can someone give me a vaild reason to go to SBR other then its a forum where people like to complain and shoot the shit? Have they given good advice, helped a customer, did anything other then provide this forum? I am just curious if they are still doing what they set out to do so long ago.

My point was not in judging whether a persons opinions are good or not. The issue of ghost accounts and other methods to shill and cloud issues is my point. If one had more of a reasonable assurance that the tide of public opinion on the forum was from the populace and not from a few people and their numerous etheral friends, issues might be a little clearer.

Take the points and perks away from the SBR Pro program...redistribute the "wealth" through promoitons and contests. Make the SBR program a method to verify that each account is unique. I am against muzzling anyone as long as they use only one account to howl at the moon with
