Why does it seem to you that there are a lot of opportunities to be winner?
What makes you really think that BF is MUST for in play for tennis, football and horses?
As far as useful books, I would highly recommend to start with books that explain why human brain constantly is trying to screw you up when it comes to any speculative activity, such as trading on BF, for example.Comment -

#3Depends on what you're looking for..
If you're a straight bettor guy, then Betfair is not so critical. You can find much better odds in other books without worrying about liquidity. Still, Betfair can be handy for a straight-handicapper but not important as Pinnacle or Sbobet.
If you're a LIVE bet guy, then Betfair is a must specially for tennis, basketball and soccer. You'll be surprised when you see the amounts traded in a tennis game at Betfair.
If you're a Trader, then Betfair is a must again. Betfair's inplay flexibility is outstanding. You can lay, back many times without wig, and at the end of the game, you only pay comission of your net winnings. This goes for both pregame traders and inplay traders.
If you're an arber, again Betfair can be handy but not useful as Pinnacle and asian books because of %5 comission. However, if you can reduce your comission to %2, then it's a different story. BF can be very useful for arbers with a %2 commission. Not to mention, Premium Charge won't hurt you if you're arbing. PC will kill you if you're a trader though..
Oh, by the way..Sure, Betfair has lots of opportunities to make money but this is not easy to make money at Betfair. There's no free money. Things changed a lot. Making money at Betfair was much easier in the past but now, things changed a lot. They have bots in the market, Sharks are also in the market. There's too much fish in the sea, you got what I mean. NBA Total market was piece of cake few years ago, now people are having really hard time to make money on it. Market is getting more efficient. Countdown was 5 seconds..now it's 8-9!
Betfair is offering many many betting opportunities but definetely, there's no free money. Still, very few people are making profit in betfair. If you will use Betfair for inplay trade/wagering, make sure you got a fast, advanced satellite system. Good luck!Last edited by Sawyer; 04-22-13, 04:21 AM.Comment -

#4Thanks mate for this detail response. Appreciate it. I totally understand that there is no free money and that you have to dig and push really hard to make a profit. I have a lot of experience with books but i never tried any exchange. I dot have any experience with trading but i want to try and build my own strategy. my plays are moneylines and specially in play. odds on tennis market are sometimes really high and often unrealistic for example and i can see there a chance to make a profit.and also if i understood properly i can offer my own prices for some events and matchup and play against other players.that sounds pretty cool.Last edited by pipita17; 04-22-13, 06:07 AM.Comment -

#6at betfair you can offer your price and if someone is sleeping you can make free money. for example you can ask of odds of 4-5 where the normal odds are 1.2-1.3 and if someone take it then nobody will change the bet. on other hand normal bookie will cancel the bet and freeze your account.
but as said lately betfair lack of liquidity - only major soccer leagues, tennis and horse racing left as normal market. basketball, many soccer leagues and markets, volleyball, handball and many other sports has awfull liquidity. major reasons: betfair closed few major european countries becose of new gambling acts and lost 25% of customers and also they kicked winning players with the 60% premium charge. those players made the markets becose they were experienced, now when more amateurs left its awfull. beside that BF has now bots who offer big spreads and bad odds so people are scared to jump in such markets thus liquidity down again. so many markets are dead now but few sports left. and with tennis - there are a lot courtsiders so you cant compare with them - you are actually 10 secs behind them, so you hardly can win. so left horseracing- same story courtsiders etc, and major soccer leagues only. but then again you can find same odds on other bookmakers like pinnacle or asian and with no commision. so all in all last 1 year betfair is in big downtrend, no wonder they will have new owners soon.Comment -

#7Times have changed..
For example,
Year 2006. If you put lay on both 1,50 for Under and Over in a basketball (NBA) game, you would win %80 since both bets would get matched specially during playoffs. (Laying 1,50 means you're backing 3,00 (+200 American) so backing under and over at +200 would be a very profitable position since you would win 200 and will lose only 100)
However, try to do it now and you will get killed, lol.
Thing are much harder now. You can't go to court with your laptop..and there's BETFAIR TRADERS ON COURT who are trading with 1-SECOND-COUNTDOWN. This is so UNFAIR.Comment -

#11if you make now 100 usd per whatever, you would have made at least 300-400 with same bets 2 years ago. trading isnt the same, you could have many uncovered bets and at end of the game lose the bet. f.e. i offer odds of 1.60-1.65 when bet365 offers 1.45-1.5 and nobody wants to match it. they ask for 1.80 thats huge spread. i mean you can buy low but sometimes cant sell it. i have seen someone with 10K on 1.40 been and all people takes his bets and it still cant be matched in full while on other bookmakers odds were 2.00. ridicoulos low liquidity.
and yes betfair kicked the winning guys and now they have marketmakers to steal the money of the rest people. they want more and more money. hope now with the new owners things will change for good.Comment -
