Betting in Spain and Gibraltar

Hello. I'm from the UK, now living in Spain and working in Gibraltar. As some of you might know, Spain has recently introduced gambling legislation requiring bookmakers to have a license to operate in Spain. So I might only be able to place bets in Gibraltar if that bookie has no Spanish license. And even if they do, I can't use my login details on most .es websites.

What's the best way to bet in this situation? Am I allowed to open accounts with both the .com and .es websites? Would this cause suspicion among the risk teams? Shall I just wait until I'm in Gib to place those bets (not ideal)? What about the tax issue on winnings from gambling in Spain?

You have unique case. So best option for you is to check with their customer support. Because you cant trust 100% somebody's opinion. As i already mentioned best way for you to find help is to contact CS of book you are betting with.

Didn't a few UK bookies reloacte to Gibralter? Stan James for one I seem to remember.

I think there were something like 50 odd licences granted to various sportsbooks, and I believe the majority of the big UK books applied for and got licences there, so I guess a lot will depend on exactly what sportsbooks you would be looking to bet with. My guess is that a lot of the US Sports facing books probably wouldnt have found it worthwhile to get a spanish licence, but thats just off my own head.
