    news about sbobet
I have received the following email today. I believe that this is a step in right direction or?

    "Dear User

    Transferring of Account

    1. On 1 August 2008, Celton Manx Ltd (“CML”) (Co. No: 121580C), a company incorporated and governed by the laws of the Isle of Man and associated with Sports Bookie Online, Inc (“SBOI”), successfully secured an online gaming licence issued by The Gambling Supervision Commission of the Isle of Man (the “GSC”). IOM is a jurisdiction which is within the United Kingdom’s White List of countries/jurisdictions. The licence permits CML to operate an online gaming business through www.sbobet.com.

    2. Following this development and an internal business re-structure, all our direct deposit customers’ accounts, including funds in the account, will be transferred to CML and come under the jurisdiction of the GSC. The funds will be kept with Barclays (Private Clients) International Limited, the Isle of Man subsidiary of Barclays Bank, one of the premier banks in the UK. The transfer of accounts to CML will take place on 5 December 2008.

    3. This internal transfer of your account to CML has minimal effect on you as a user of our website’s services. You will be able to continue using the services on www.sbobet.com as before. The added advantage to you as a user is that you will now be able to have access to wider payment/deposit solutions such as credit cards and other e-payment gateways like Moneybookers, Neteller and so forth.

    4. However, one strict requirement of the Isle of Man’s gaming regulations is that gaming operators must know their customers (“KYC requirements”). This requirement is aimed at countering money laundering activities. As a result of this requirement, you will be required, on your first log in to www.sbobet.com (from 5 December 2008 onwards), to confirm/update your particulars through a webpage and re-submit the same back to us. It is a onetime confirmation/update to activate your account if you agree to the transfer. Please note that on this first log in, you will be diverted to the CML /SBOBET website to complete the above confirmation/update exercise.

    5. If you do not agree to the transfer of your account to CML, we regret that you will NOT be able to continue using the services on www.sbobet.com. Your account will then be closed and any funds in your account will be returned to you following such closure subject to compliance with our normal fund withdrawal procedures. Unless we hear from you in writing by 30 November 2008 that you Do Not wish for your account to be transferred to CML, you will be deemed to have agreed to the transfer and upon activation of your account (as explained in paragraph 4 above), you will be registered as a CML customer.

    6. As part of the anti money laundering (“AML”) measures that have to be put in place, you will also be asked to submit to CML (through us) the following documents:

    (i) a photo identification document such as your National Identity Card or Passport; and

(ii) a document to confirm your residential address such as your household utility bill (e.g. Water /Electricity Bill) or residential telephone bill (mobile phone bills are NOT acceptable as per the Isle of Man regulations) or bank statement that is not more than 3 months old and which has your name and residential address appearing on it.

    7. These documents may be submitted to us now or at the latest, at the time of your request to withdraw funds from your account. To prevent or minimize any delay or inconvenience to you when you withdraw funds, we would advise that you submit these documents to us as early as possible and not wait until the time of withdrawal of the funds. Having your records in our database will facilitate early return of funds to you.

    8. You may submit these documents to us in one of the following ways:

    (i) By scanning a copy of these documents and emailing them to us at accdpt@sbobet.com;

(ii) By Fax to our Accounts Department at +63 2856 3766; or

(iii) By Posting to Sports Bookie Online, Inc. 24th Floor Burgundy Corporate Tower, 252 Sen Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City, Manila 1200, Philippines.

    9. We recognize that this process may cause some minor inconvenience and we apologise for the same. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to address any queries or concerns that you may have. We can be reached as follows:

    (i) By Phone to our Customer Service Department: +63 2856 3776 / +63 2856 3778; or

    (ii) Email: support@sbobet.com

    Thank you.

    Yours faithfully,

    Ms Jessie Lim
