    Why doesn't this happen?
A wealthy guy goes to Costa Rica! Sets up an exchange similar to betfair and allows USA residents to use it.

Bet islands is licensed and operated in Costa Rica, right? So why not?

One of the offshore books tried this after the Matchbook exit. Can't even recall the name of it no one has mentioned it in so long.

Maybe because there a lot more money to be made from normal bookmaking activity. An exchange gets only the commission. Small profits, why bother?

That is wrong, I will tell you why to bother! The exchange won't shut you down for being a winner, they profit from winners. Profits are far from small. Nadal and federer matches I've seen have volume over 80mill at an exchange alone! That for them would be around 4million plus profit alone. There is no winning player that an exchange doesn't Benefit from. If Americans want pinnacle and better odds they need an exchange.

            It was RebateWager.

brettels there would never be anywhere close to that volume at a US exchange. JJ always mentions how many people have tried to start exchanges through the years and they don't work for US clients. The majority of American bettors don't care about backing, laying, finding the best price, arbing out, etc. Just like the casual Aussie horse bettor doesn't care about going from bookie to bookie to find the best price. They want to throw money on something quickly and be done with it.

It just gets to me that with the population they have it would be something that should work. betmaker.ag i had a look at it but i don't want to ever again. if they had betfairusa.ag exactly the same do you think it would change things?

No. They're not into it for some reason. Obviously a segment is - the guys who are the more serious gamblers and used Matchbook when it was still US facing. But if you search SBR for Matchbook and look at the threads before it left the US you'll see the same posters in them constantly. And then the same reasons people have for not playing there: No bonuses, no parlays, no teasers, poor liquidity at times, didn't understand the concept of back/lay, etc.

                  Here's a good thread: http://forum.sbrforum.com/sportsbook...k-so-poor.html

If you could figure out a way to make Americans want to use an exchange you'd be a millionaire in no time!
