is it just me or does the fact teams can win the world cup from penalty kicks very sad, as long as this is how they decide games i dont wanna hear how great soccer is, it would be like the nfl having a 20 yrd fg contest to decide the superbowl.....

Naw it closer to giving each team the ball on the 30 and seeing if they score, now that would be dumb ---

Taking the handball was + EV.

If it couldn't be stopped any other way, then that +EV is huge.

I hate having more ref discretion, but if it's clearly going to go in the net, why isn't a handball in that case ruled a goal? Guy probably had a shot of stopping it with head/shoulder in that case, but imagine a more blatant one.

That handball was worth more than that. The ball was going in the net for sure. Smart move by Suarez, that was game over and he breathed life in the end. Hero of the match.
