When looking at the schedule, one game stood out to me like a..well, like a BIG RED BULL! This Salzburg team is the real deal. They can score goals and are very organized on defense. Red Star has alot of wins, but most against Serbian league teams sprinkled with Latvia and Lithuania. Not even close to top notch competition. Red Star routinely plays against men who have other jobs during the week. Salzburg does not. Red Star is a big fish in a small pond. Salzburg is a big fish in a much bigger pond and they hang 3, 4 and 5 goals out with regularity.
This is an unusual match in that it will be played behind closed doors. The Serbs have a tendency to be naughty. I dont know how it will effect either team. The weirdness might effect one more than the other, but I dont know which one. Red Star is rested and at home, Salzburg played saturday, they took their best 3 players out at 60-70 minutes . However these are professional players, they always play twice a week, I dont see fatigue an issue.
This is simply an issue of taking the clearly better team and hoping they show up to compete. First legs of this type can always end in a tie, an inferior home team can claim a victory and the superior team can wait for a home game to finish it out. Hence my biggest play on this game will be RED BULL SALZBURG pk -173. Insurance against the dreaded first leg draw. I will also be playing RED BULL SALZBURG +123.
The much higher quality team that can put it in the onion bag.
Should be fun
Another Champions league play will be PSV/BATE ov2 -165. PSV can score as well as give up goals. The dutch league is notorious for that. I see PSV winning and BATE, my belorussian brother
, scoring a goal. I use 5dimes and bought down the total. I wont be betting ov2.5.
Inter league games are always tricky, hard to gauge competition. This one SEEMS obvious. I have been wrong before, not lately, but before.
Good luck to whoever bets with me.
