    Relegation fight picks
I'm going to run this thread until the end of the soccer season in western Europe.
It is that time of year when teams fighting relegation play every game like their lives depend on it. It's usually the period I personally make the most money in soccer.
This thread will only focus on relegation fights in the following leagues: La Liga, Serie A, Premiership, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Eredivisie and Bank of Scotland Premier League. One may occasionally take a look at the Belgian and Portuguese leagues.

    Please feel free to contribute.

I'll give you middlesbrough's inside info that you don't get form watching highlights.
The 'fight' that teams are meant to have doesn't stretch to Boro, we are unable to pressure or speed up the tempo on teams and as a result, don't score.
We play Bolton on saturday and i'll be putting a big bet on the draw. Simply because bolton are playing appallingly but so are we. A draw is the value bet but also the most obvious. If not the draw, Bolton dnb because we aren't going to win.
A draw is my best bet though

Thanks Smogs. Your inputs are ALWAYS welcomed.

West Brom (+115) is my Premiership pick this weekend. Stoke haven't, and won't, win a road game this season. West Brom lost to Stoke in the reverse fixture by a lone goal. In the spirit of relegation fight, I expect West Brom to return the gesture this weekend. West Brom are the more desperate of the two and still have very realistic chances of escaping relegation.

No way, it is inconceivable to be honest. However, and its a big one, they will lose to chelsea this weekend, simple as that, and they have one of the harder schedules in the remaining games.
I can't see it though, first leeds, celta vigo, zaragoza, valencia look doomed next season, and now newcastle??!! jeez, maybe that's what makes the game great

              EPL

              West Brom +115 1u

West Brom is our first relegation fight pick. They lost by a lone goal in the reverse fixture and should be gearing to pay back the gesture.

As usual! West Brom lost at home Stoke. That was Stoke's first road win all season.

                  Here's one for this thread:

                  France Ligue 1

                  Caen pk (+120)

Lots of talent out for Toulouse, Caen already beat them once.

you might condider playing karslruher sc tomorrow at home against gladbach ,
if they don't win that game , there season is over .
I still think they aren't as a bad as the standings reveal ,gladbach will go down in a tough battle between two of the weakest sides in the bundesliga..

Hey Wil - i'll be putting a lot of my money on M'Boro next weekend at home to Hull. If we don't win that we are down and Hull have been playing so badly lately. Without Boateng they are poor in midfield and even Boro can beat them. We will too. This will be a massive bet for me

Wilforth - i have laid down a massive bet on Middlesbrough draw no bet (pick 'em)

I usually bet £20 a game but this is £200 or what?....... $250?? i don't know the exchange rate atm but gordon brown has screwed us in the exchanges - a*shole.
My reason for this is that i bet £100 @ 6/1 that we would go down way back in november so either way it is win win. Yes i bet on my team to lose at times but i am betting on them to win and i have a season ticket with the team so my loyalty is in the right place, that cost me £550 or $650 roughly.
If we don't win i make £600 and if we win i make £100 @ 1/2 dnb and we still may go down but we are in a bad place, we have to win............... simple as that

Wilforth you might want to take a look at Bursaspor vs Ankaragucu tomorrow in the Turkish league, Ankaraspor have a fanatic fan base and the team are fighting for dear life to stay in the league. Tomorrow they are against a friend team who may help them out as they have nothing to play for themselves.

I got another one for you Wilforth, Ofi Crete vs Chania in Greek league, its another case of brother teams (both from Crete), Ofi fighting relegation, Chania achieved their targets, Chania leaders have ties to Ofi, they might give their bros a hance in this game.

                                          Espanyol vs Real Betis.

The match of the year comes on this day as Espanyol fights for their La Liga lives against Real Betis. Espanyol is on a roll winning 3 out of their last 4 with 1 draw. They are curently 1 point out of the drop zone behind Sporting Gijon who plays Atletico Madrid today.

Sporting Gijon has been a punching bag lately and surely seems to take Espanyol's place.

This is the game of the year for Espanyol, they will be throwing everything they got at Real Betis.

One key note is Real Betis: "
Turkey's Brazilian-born midfielder Mehmet Aurelio - a key player for Betis this term - has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury." per ESPN soccernet http://soccernet.espn.go.com/preview?id=252804&cc=5901

MY PICK FOR THE RELEGATION ZONE FIGHT:

                                          ESPANYOL AT EVEN ODDS!
(odds have dropped 22 points originally at +122)
