Mize has been everything the Tigers could have hoped for this season. The trouble is that the numbers are skewed. The kid has been feasting on run support from the Detroit line-up. But not this afternoon. Runs have been extra scarce the last few games for the Tigers and I'm not expecting anything to change today. Ober, if nothing else, has been consistent his last 5 outings with the Twins winning them all. No real problem with Minnesota scoring either as they've put up 21 runs over their last 5 games. We discussed having to eat a little chalk yesterday and that sometimes a little nibble doesn't hurt. I will buy the extra 1/2 run on the UNDER.

Tried to give this night game away by labeling it a T-Bone steak play.
Tampa Bay played a little cat and mouse game over the weekend when they held Luis Patino back from what would have been his normal turn in the Rays starting rotation at Baltimore. Instead he will start this important first game of the series tonight against Boston. For any of you who haven't caught on yet this 21 year old kid out of Colombia is the real deal. His Fastball sits at 96-97mph and he's been clocked as high as 100.3mph. That's his go-to pitch which is thrown about 60% of the time. He couples this with a nasty filthy Slider that's thrown about 25% of the time. He will also mix in a Change-up which usually misses low and out of the strike zone. The Red Sox have Chris Sale scheduled to start Wednesday's game. So, the Rays are showing you the confidence they have in this kid Patino by trotting him out there for tonight's first game of the series. If this contest tonight becomes a bullpen game the Red Sox proved yesterday they simply can't compete. They blew a 4-0 lead in losing to the Indians. Stick a fork in Boston. They are done.
