what are your thoughts on religion?

with easter coming up, ive been thinking about it. i come from a church every week type family, but i havent been to church myself for a long while, not even christmas or easter. i get nothing outta it. other religions kill people for no great reason. catholic priests end up with lil boys because they cant have a woman. the concept seems ridiculous to me. i think a good majority of people dont follow whats preached on sunday anyways for the other 6 days of the week.

only thing that keeps me hoping there is something to all of this is that when you die i cant imagine that being "it". id like to think there really is an afterlife of some sort.

all regligions are fake and i thought everyone knew it...it is just a money making scheme started by unemployed priests in europe who heard that the africans thought that thunder and lightning was created by the gods...so they went down there to capitalize and it spread from there...the catholics are the worst using intimidating tactics to get people to tithe...such as a tithe wall in the entrance to shame people who are not on it to do it...what do priests do with all their spare time anyway...porn...

I have never had an atheist knock on my door and try to sell me anything. I also have never seen a weekly gathering of atheists chanting old songs and giving their money to some organization where the pastor has a nicer home than half of the members.

I wouldn't say the atheists are the ones that are obsessed....just saying

There are pastors that own helicopters...In Houston, there is a church that is actually held at "The Summit", where the Rockets played before the Toyota Center. And I don't mean they just have services there. The "church"(pastor/owner) owns the entire building.

I'm referring religious people who sell their "books of faith" by going door to door. Clearly they would not be an atheist.

Religion is the longest living scam on earth! People, in general, have been brainwashed since early childhood to believe in the most absurd and bizarre beliefs.
I call it superstitions. 90% of humans are afraid NOT to believe in a higher power. This is religion keeping you honestly in your gullible, heavenly beliefs.
I predict, once our overly religious senior citizens die out, many religions will dramatically fade in popularity. You can thank the internet for that probable scenario.

Totally agnostic myself but I enjoy studying the different religions and their histories. One cannot deny the profound effect religion has had on our society (ies) and culture (s).
