Why no diversity push outside Europe/North America?

How come in Japan they don't say you know... our country is 99% Japanese, we need to let in some Black, Hispanic, white and Islamic people for diversity so that we could look more like the world? We're just too similar of a people and culture.

The Nigerians don't say you know what, Nigeria is 99% black, our country isn't exactly working out, maybe we should bring in some Asian, Hispanic, Islamic and white people to help us out and diversify a little bit?

But then look at the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France etc. Obsessed with it.

Good post. Maybe Canada, the US and France and The UK are to some extent, I dont know if the Germans are "obsessed" with it ,historically at least.

Its funny how liberals talk about multiculturalism yet when you study other cultures the one thing you see in almost all cultures is ethnocentrism. Even the western "multicultural" liberal really has no equivalent in most other cultures.

I don't know that I'd say Americans are historically obsessed with it either. Look at the movie Gangs of New York and all the fighting between European immigrants there. Look at the Civil War draft riots in New York where the racist New Yorkers started running around and lynching random blacks saying they didn't want to go fight. New York like most major cities was very anti-war and the Lincoln's the Republicans war was very unpopular and he jailed a lot of political prisoners and draft dodgers. He brought the army to New York to quash the anti-war riots and lynchings. The army fired on the crowd.

But rich nations like Japan and poor 3rd world nations alike don't toot the same diversity horn suggesting it's not an income thing.

USA had a long standing tradition of isolation before the last 100 years when we became the world's police man however we've always been pro immigration.

I think you have to be careful with it. You want to accept the right people and you do that with proper controls. Some engineer from Japan wants to come over and be a good productive citizen because they believe in American ideals and the American dream you let them. Some trash from some foreign country wants to come over for freebees you don't let them. Imagine people as free agents, when the best free agents come to you you want them, you don't want other teams problems. Albert Einstein coming over is great for us bad for them... Welfare queen coming over is our loss and their gain.

Japan was made up from elitists who left China and wanted to make the best of the best.

Naitive Americans came to North America before white European settlers but they were not ingenous, they originally came over from Asia.
