Do you think "WE" are messed up?

Have you ever seen or heard these suit wearing psychologist types talk? When in doubt people always need "help". They'll talk about doing some study and some college male consumed more than 4 drinks of alcohol GASP. He's a binge drinker and needs help. I feel like the crap these ivory tower types is a lot more common and a lot worse than people think.

Bateman Patrick starts a thread that he's thinking about killing himself and people don't care at all. People are more or less saying "jump ( off the bridge) or "if you do decide to do it make sure you succeed so you aren't a vegetable for the rest of your life... that would suck. I read the first few lines of that thread and nobody tried to get the guy to get down off the ledge. I mean what would those nerdy TA's in any college's psych department say? They think we are a bunch of inhumane weirdos!

So I was on the public transportation last week and an old guy ( maybe 50) strikes up a conversation with a young guy ( a couple years out of college). They are both suits and the old guy is talking are talking, where'd you go to school, what do you do, do you like it blah blah blah.

Apparently the kid got a job in NY but moved back to my area and the old guy repeatedly kept telling him how he didn't like New York, didn't like the people from there, the culture, blah blah blah. The kid agreed with him and said that's why he had to move away. He said he worked all week, would go out on the weekends and at like 1AM would get tired and want to go home and go to bed but his friends would stay out until like 6AM. The old man was silent after that. Dead freaking silent, amazed. In his world he goes to bed a 9:30 PM on a Sat night and what this kid said was from like planet Mars. He probably didn't even believe the kid or seriously started to question the guy he thought he had a lot in common with. He was like timid after that.

My point is look at us. Are we really all messed up???
- Binge drinker worse than any study would like to admit
- Drugs, hardcore drugs
- Severe porn addictions
- Most of you guys are in horrible physical shape
- Pathological liars, attention whores, threads about nothing
- Degenerate gamblers willing to bet on anything and everything
- Thiefs, look at the thread about how to rob 7-11s
- Some very lonely guys, 187 and his near daily almost romance threads
- Guys calling themselves the King
- The numerous guys that long on to form the JJGold personality

The average college psyche department probably thinks we should all be admitted but I sort of think they are the crazy ones. I mean are we really all messed up? The guy looked at the kid like some weirdo because his friends stayed out late, I'm thinking MAN, FU CK, this guy probably wouldn't believe the stories I have. Are we messed up???? What are we and where is our place in this world? We're not like everybody else but are we messed up? Do they think of us like that old man and the kid?

I agree with JJ, but don't get terribly worried about "today's generation". While I do feel as though they are lazy, shut ins, disrespectful and all that other garbage, I remember that the "older generation" said the same thing about my generation....and JJ's generation before me.

It's a never ending cycle. The generation before me thinks it's better than mine, and I in turn feel my generation is better than the one before me. But we're all still here and doing fine. All to do about nothing I guess.

But the old man thought the kid was nuts because some of his friends stay out until 6AM on weekends. I thought the old man was nuts because he goes to bed at 9PM on a Sat night. We all drink and gamble and all that and to us we're normal, but I think most people think of US like we need to be in jail, rehab, away from the rest of society etc.

I mean if my friend tells me he kicked back 15 beers on Sat night I'm thinking he had a good time... the normal response is probably that he's an alcoholic and needs to go to rehab immediately. People think our behaviors are dangerous and not healthy but it's normal to us.
