just add the ingrediants right after the wife goes to work. 8 hours later, an awesome homemade dinner that looks like it took hours to make. Use the time to get real work done.

I was just shopping for one yesterday. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but they are some great things. There is NO excuse. A person can follow a simple recipe, or make their own up, and put the stuff in there, and you are golden. No excuse.

Yeah, Crock-Pot is a genericized brandname. Like Rollerblades, Kleenex, Sheetrock, and even Zipper.

                          A recipe from 1001 Best Slow-Cooker Recipes

                          Spanish Chicken and Rice Stew
The Spanish name of this dish, arroz con pollo, translates as “rice with
                          chicken.”

                          6 entrée servings

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cubed
                          (11⁄2-inch)
                          3 cups reduced-sodium fat-free chicken broth
1 cup each: chopped onion, green and red
                          bell pepper
                          2 cloves garlic, minced
1⁄4 teaspoon crushed saffron threads (optional)
1 cup uncooked converted long-grain rice
                          1–2 tablespoons dry sherry (optional)
                          1 cup frozen peas, thawed
Salt and cayenne pepper, to taste

                          1. Combine all ingredients, except rice, sherry, peas, salt, and cayenne pepper,
in slow cooker; cover and cook on low 5 to 6 hours, adding rice during
last 2 hours and sherry and peas during last 20 minutes. Season to taste
                          with salt and cayenne pepper.

meh, no arroz con pollo!!! I'm sick of that shit. being married to a costa rican, my wife (and her whole damn family) love to make arroz con pollo. and gallo pinto for breakfast! (pinto is this dry rice and beans combo served every damn day for breakfast) and to think that it qualifies as a top recipe.

A wet Italian Beef sandwich loaded with peppers sounds really good right now!
