As demand spikes for potassium iodide in the wake of Japan’s nuclear crisis, U.S. poison control centers are starting to receive reports of illness in people who’ve ingested the drug aimed at protecting against radiation sickness.

At least seven people have reported reactions to the drug, often called by its chemical name, KI, including two who said they were suffering from serious symptoms including vomiting, racing heart and dizziness or vertigo.

agree and agree. People have no clue what they're taking, how much to take, when to take, for how long to take it and that taking it will really only protect the thyroid which a lot of people do without nowadays anyhow, just take a synthroid pill instead.

Americans are scared of everything. We're scared our plane is gonna crash, a burglar is gonna break in, eating eggs will kill us, tap water will kill us, milk is bad for you, that the mexicans are gonna take over, that we'll burn in a car wreck if our seatbelts are on. WE're a country based on fear and this potassium iodide pill is just another example.

Of course you hear about more stupid people from a country as large and with a news service like the ones in the United States...I bet if India and China had the same type of news companies, you would hear about even more of them from there...hehe. There's about 311 millions living in the United States now I think...that means that for every fool in Norway...where I am from...you hear about...you would have heard of about around 62 in the United States...hehe...and if you are curious about the ones in China...there would be around 268. That is of course if the ratio of foolishness is the same in every country.

As for the fears...they are everywhere in the western countries these days...nothing unique.
