I just had road runner come install a cable modem at my house, the cable modem has one ethernet plug. My question is if I get a wireless router and connect the modem to it, can I still run a "hard line" to my computer to the wireless router so I can still have a "hard line or direct hookup"?

#2Yes. There should be 4+ sockets in the back of the router you can run an ethernet cable from.Comment -

#12or you could skip having too much hardware and ask comcast if they offer wireless modems..that way they could always help you if you run into problems..Comment -

#16get an external antenna router. better than internal for obvious reasons. d-link dir-655 has been around for awhile and is still one of the best. my max speed is 1.5 MB/s with hardline. i get 1.4 on laptop with the router.Comment -

#18This is what the back looks like. Those (4) open ports can be used to "hardwire" other computers.
