I got hit for 17k in august - sept, took nearly 5 months to get my money back. The bank, the cc company, all did their research to find out who was using it- came up with NOTHING.
I had to go down my bank statement, 1 by 1 with the vendors call them and ask for information leading to who got the card. Nobody would give me any information due to 'privacy act'
I ask them "why do you go to such lengths to protect the criminals identity instead of mine? Did you verify the person using the card was the cardholder? Did they give you identification, correct billing address? "
        NO they did not

I finally got in touch with nike.com rep, and explained to him what happened, I just gave him the date and the total amount ran on the card, he told me the person's address, name, and telephone number.

I had to report that to the bank, then to the authorities in south carolina where my card was being used, 400 miles away.

Still it took over 60 days to get my funds back even after I did all their research for them and pretty much giftwrapped the cc predator for them.

        Good luck.

Same thing happened to me a while back.....Apparently I had spyware on my computer (even though I have AVG), for who knows how long. Didnt realize it till after all my info was stolen and used......even though my computer has since been "cleaned" I'm always paranoid about it happening again. Cancel the card and order new one with new number and file fraud claim with bank, etc. Scan your computer with "Malwarebytes" program to check for spyware/malware as well as run a virus check to make sure your laptop isnt compromised. I do both almost daily now since it happened to me

I am in alabama and they used it to buy 1k nike products, over 10k verizon products, a power bill for their house in south carolina, some other acne product, nintendo points ? wtf is a nintendo points?
All of it shipped to sc.
I am not even a verizon customer and neither my bank, nor verizon found a red flag with 10+ orders between $500 $2000 each.
All it takes is for someone to have the card # and the "security code" which is printed on the back of the card. How on earth does that verify the card owner is the card holder?

I also suffered over $5k in insufficient funds, which they reimbursed.

I had my everything taken out of my bank account a few years ago. Luckily I had less than $2000 in there. The bank never told me how they stole my money but the person had a fake debit card and my pin and withdrew the money starting on Friday all the way till Monday. They took out $500 a day and when I tried to buy something on Monday the card wasn't accepted.

It was BS because the bank never told me how something like this could happen. Probably an inside job or something but I did get my money back.

Lord, there is specials on this all the time. They basically put a scanner over a swiper on the atm. With the right equipment you can replicate the the card strip. They also have a camera that they set up to see the pins. I have seen this on the news like 15+ times within the last year.

Local gas station had all the card readers removed from each pump and left only one central monitored one. Lots of people were 'skimmed'.

Happened to me ... my CC was charged 2 times 33 USD (had more money but it seems 66 USD was enough) ... went to the bank, told them about it, cancel my card and got back the money in 90 days ...

when i worked for the goverment and flew every day we had goverment credit cards. I flew out of the Atlanta airport 5 days a week. One day my supervisor came to me and asked me why i bought 2000 dollars at toys r us in new jersey with my gcard.i wasnt in new jersey and i dont have kids. She said the card had been swiped. Well it comes to find out a lot of the other collegues with me were having the same issues. It seems the people working the pay tolls out of the airport were taking our cards and taking the paper and pencil to get the sketch of our cards and selling them in some eithiopian network of theirs. They would make cards out of our numbers somehow. Being a gcard we just canceled and got a new one and we were told to do cash advances to pay parking for now on. This was 2005 and i heard they arrested 9 ethiopians at the airport for this.
