    tax question
    my friend lives with his girlfriends parents he is suppose to pay $200 a month on rent but he usually just buys groceries and does alot of work around the house to pretty much call that rent, can he claim that as rent on his taxes and do the parents have to put that anywhere on their taxes since he is not actually paying them. i told him i didnt know so i have been asking this question around, let me know if anyone knows for sure, thanks

    He can write that on his taxes if he really wants to itemize. It depends usually itemizing leads to higher chance of being audited

      aiight yea it doesnt really need to be on taxes and it isnt illegal so i will tell him to just leave it
