Blacks struggle with 72 percent unwed mothers rate

The black community's 72 percent rate eclipses that of most other groups: 17 percent of Asians, 29 percent of whites, 53 percent of Hispanics and 66 percent of Native Americans were born to unwed mothers in 2008, the most recent year for which government figures are available. The rate for the overall U.S. population was 41 percent.

It is interesting to note that while the largest race in the US is well under the average, the higher birth rates of the larger minorities (hispanics and blacks) pulls the number up.

yes, and that trend will continue, to the point that within 1-2 more
generations, whites will be a minority in the U.S. This is because the
welfare systems of the federal government and states enable and incentivize
eligible participants to produce more children, thus rising their benefit rates.

Umm how is being unmarried a struggle? i have two children with the same man but we're not married... My life is not a struggle because of it either. In fact, my life is jsut like a married couples without a certificate.

You want to talk about a disadvantage in life? Forget the color of your skin, talk about growing up from a single mom. You want to talk about the achievement gap between white/Asian students and Black students? No matter how many programs you start it's going to be hard to narrow that achievement gap when the Asian kid has a mommy and daddy and the black kid only has a mommy.
