I felt the air tonight, on my way back from the library, where I was working on a financial portfolio involving calculation of S&P 500 and stock CAPM, beta and alpha values, and forming a portfolio. Was successful in coming up with a portfolio with a 5% risk free return, which is better than the rate the US treasury bonds are trading at.

Running some regression analysis and it turns out that the stocks I've selected are highly complimentary, i.e. their betas are greater than 1, which is highly beneficial to my portfolio, especially in the currently unpredictable economy.

Now to do some variance calculations and plot a graph of CAPM results, along with the portfolio variances, so I can find the optimal weights for each stock in my portfolio.
