All my life being a man of your word was drummed into me as the most important thing to look for in an honorable person.

I value it in myself enough to take the L when it forces me to.

I tend to look down at and disengage with anyone who's word cannot be trusted.

How do you feel about this?

Is it an important quality in your mind too?

A man of his word is to be Respected. When I give my word to someone, it is a matter of '' Self Respect '' to keep it.

That's my view. If someone does not keep their word to me, they may be done with ever having any interaction again.

As the old saying goes, ''F'' me once, ''F'' You. . . ''F'' me twice, ''F'' Me.!. (or **** versa)(I'm not against a second chance depending on the situation) Maybe that's a slight misrepresentation of the question, but it is still a solution.
