I think this is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I feel for those folks. Losing everything they own has gotta be tough, even if they are rich.

They really are, and their backs are up against the wall. It is so devastating, and still 0% contained as of this afternoon!

I feel so sick when I think of all the displaced people and lives completely uprooted.

I honestly do not understand nor am I well educated on why Insurance companies left California. But my understanding is '' due to the poor leadership and unwillingness of the leaders of California to safeguard the people, the insurance industry just left the area ''. While it is illegal for insurance companies to cancel policies before they expire in California, many homeowners whose policies were not renewed have struggled to obtain or afford coverage, as the number of carriers in the state continues to shrink.

I saw one video where it looked like winds were making a blast furnace in the open and taking out a McDonalds that looked more like the apocalypse had arrived than a wild fire.

A drought and 100mph winds will do that. I seen a vid that said it was so dry and fire prone that a moving car could start a fire.

The winds start in Colardo and build speed as they are funneled through mountains. It was like a fire Hurricane with embers from fires blowing up to two miles away from there start point.
