I don't agree with her guest. You can see immediately how he tried to diminish what happened. He called it bullying and a first amendment issue. I disagree with his assessment.

Ask yourself this. If students were gathering calling for the lynching of Blacks would he still hold the same view? Would Gay not say that goes against the code of conduct at Harvard? We know the answer.

Why is it so hard for the Left to say that calling for the genocide of any group of people goes against the code of conduct?

Intuitively I would guess yes he would say the same thing.

Although personally I don't agree the first amendment is a great thing for this very reason. When it suits people to invoke inalienable personal rights, there is no room left for reasonable argument on the grounds of content.

Still, he left me thinking this is a broad social issue to him, not about Harvard allowing one type of "hate speech" whilst disapproving of another.

He was being pushed to condemn white supremacists and trying to avoid being pushed into anything. He made an error by directly responding to that by saying there were good and bad people on both sides.
