    Is this disturbing?
Some are calling it that. Some are calling it child abuse. Many are calling for the firing of the coach.

    what do you guys think?

If it was a white coach doing it to a black kid he would be in jail now. Coach is probably a repressed pussy so he likes to see physical defeat of others because he sucks at life. This is all to common place in youth sports a never was punk ass bitch adult acting tough. You don't make a tough guy into a pussy or a pussy into a tough guy know matter what drills you do.

Our coach made us take charges in basketball practice in daily drills on a hardwood floor. It made us more brave to step into one during the game. As long as this isn't selective bullying -- I'm fine with it.

No need for this dumb shit.

Reminds how much I loved playing football but absolutely hated football practice due to drills like this growing up. Adults trying to have us pass out from heat strokes and concussions at the same time. Looked for any excuse possible to skip it.

Me too, man did I hate practice. We had a drill called bull in the ring where 1 person stood in a circle surrounded by 6-8 guys. They would take turns taking a shot at you and you never know who was going to hit you next.

Sliding practice wasn't exactly my favorite drill in baseball but it was nothing compared to the monkey roll or bull in the ring at football practice.

This is not a bad drill

Kids need to learn how to anticipate and prepare for impact on the field, to avoid injuries

It's basically learning how to collapse youself

the first pair who hit him was fine. Same goes for the second and third pair. The last pair was over kill. No need for that.

Depends if the guy was expecting all of those rounds of hits, I think if the coach tells them exactly how the drill will play out and it plays out that way and the guy agreed to it - then nothing wrong at all.

We used to do that same exact drill. Coach would call out a number and that’s the guy that would run in and stick ya.

Was called Monkey in the middle when I was playing.

I doubt they still call it that though, for whatever reasons.

We'll injure in our guys in practice, so they learn how to not get hurt in the game!

Anyone who played football has done drills like this

You have to get hit, hard, so you learn to brace for unexpected contact in a game

You have to learn to collapse yourself, for your own safety out there

Anyone who ever blocked on a kick off or any lineman who suddenly became a defender after a pick or a fumble will know what I'm talking about

You don't learn in practice how to take that hit, you will get the wind knocked out of you or worse on the field in front of 5000 fans on a Friday night.

We used to a drill callen the nutcracker.

We were pop warner football like 1972? The guy running the ball had to pass through like 8 players lining up in double file and the coach would call who was going to make the tackle hit. Double hitting. I remember one good running back crying after getting crushed by being tackled by two people. They knocked the crap out of him.
