Manhattan will no longer prosecute prostitution
Via manhattan DA Twitter : “Today, we announced a new policy to decline-to-prosecute prostitution and unlicensed massage, a first in New York State. D.A. Vance also joined @LegalAidNYC and @nyc_defenders in a motion to dismiss 900+ prostitution cases dating back to the 1970s.”

        Excellent news

        Tremendous decision

        But...will they prosecute solicitation?

I feel this is political because border patrol just caught 3 containers full of women being smuggled in by Bidens open border

Human trafficking is an immigration issue, it is a border issue...and Biden / Dems are on the wrong side of it naturally

Vance did not say whether soliciting prostitutes would still be criminalized. Elizabeth Nolan Brown, a reporter for the libertarian magazine Reason, said the office would indeed continue to prosecute customers, and criticized Wednesday's move as a half measure.

Unlicensed massage? You need a license to give someone a massage. That's what wrong with America in a nutshell. Too many stupid regulations.

yeah you have rights taken away often when you break certain laws

go to jail for a felony and I don't think you'll have much luck voting or buying a gun after you got out

they'd prob let you fish though

Regulate it and tax it, like all the legal vices.

New york is working hard to avoid bankruptcy.

Throwing current residents bones to entice them not to move to another state.

Any chance california might legalize prostitution next.

You don't need a license to give someone a massage, just like any other business you need a license to charge someone for a massage.

Every business needs a business license.

Some require surety bonds and other things that need to be confirmed by the state.

Sadly, they will prosecute solicitation which I really do not understand. What is the purpose of allowing prostitution but then penalizing the solicitor.

The text of the new policy notes it does not preclude officials from bringing "other charges that may stem from a prostitution-related arrest." A spokesperson confirmed to NPR that it will not change the office's existing approach to arresting patrons of prostitution.
