I don't think they were considered kooky nutjobs. Herd immunity isn't some crazy conspiracy theory concept. The question was whether or not the healthcare system could handle the volume of infections that herd immunity ultimately requires.

If you go back and look at how herd immunity was covered by the media from day 1 to right now, you will see how slanted and biased the coverage is

Medical professionals, who weren't sure how effective lockdowns and masks were going to be, were ridiculed when they suggested not much would help until herd immunity kicked in

Herd immunity was linked to Trump, therefore it had no merit and was nuts

Anyone that Googles "who suggested herd immunity for Covid", and goes through the entire history of it, will see what I am talking about

It went way beyond available hospital beds

Facts, or educated medical opinions, should not be manipulated by the media because of their political bias, especially when it is quite obvious nobody really had a firm grasp of how to deal with this virus to begin with

As usual, the media chooses sides and the sheep follow

Covid ripped through my apartment complex and town in February last year. Before it was “here”. We’ve had very little cases since and none of us have been super careful. We could have saved a lot of lives if we just let young people go about their lives for a few weeks without shutting the world down. I was saying that from the beginning and yes I was considered a crazy conspiracist nut job. It was really stupid to just let it slowly stick around so eventually old people would get sick and die on holidays when all their family members could have built immunity already. It’s just another example of liberals having zero foresight and operating on emotion.
