    Affects Your Credit Score
My credit score was lowered by 2 points because of a credit inquiry in the last x number of days. The only thing it could have been was opening an account with FanDuel. Even though no credit was requested, my checking acct was used and somehow it happened. I have not asked any company for credit since a credit card early in 2020, more than 1 year ago. Just beware.

I really don't think they check your credit score. Maybe I'm wrong. Did you give them your social security number? And doesn't your credit report tell you who checked it?

That’s not the case. FanDuel doesn’t do a credit check. Sometimes your score can move a point for different reasons

as mentioned, you should be able to find out who did the inquiry. check cause it might not be something you were aware of and someone has your info.

FanDuel loves players who spend irresponsibly. There is no chance they checked your credit. They would need your permission to do so.

However, what you SHOULD be concerned about is if someone tried to apply for credit under your name using your stolen identity. That is much more likely. Better do some investigating........

Social Sec # was asked for in the application somewhere. I guess they figure I could have lost the deposit then tried to cancel it with my banking account.
They do a few checks..One is to pick your old address from a list of 4 addresses...A couple more similiar type multiple choice questions.
The only other remote possibility is that I bought a smart phone from Verizon, I tried to pay for it up front. But it was actually cheaper for me to pay for it in 24 months with a plan. The plan was about a dollar more by paying the phone off as crazy as that sounds.

It’s more likely the cell phone than FanDuel. Was it a credit check or a bank check ? How were you notified ? How can you not know who did it? That usually comes with the notification.

It comes as a free service with my Capital One Card. It's called credit wise or some such. It list any change in score from month to month and shows info on the amount of credit you have as well as the amount you're using. Mine was very low to the amount of credit I have. Then it shows a box with new credit inquires and that box had the number 1.
No list as to who it was, maybe I could dig with Capital One, but it's a free service and who the hell knows. I've been with Verizon for more than 20 years so I doubt it was them, but a slight chance. I deposited with FanDuel straight from checking account which they credited immediately, but it did not come out of my account for a couple of days.

longball, definitely find out from capital one who did the inquiry. i would call and get that info if you can't get it online from the free service they offer. time is important in case someone is trying to use your info.

My Discover and Citi cards are always sending me updates with my "new" FICO score and to check it. Neither card ever has the same number. Sometimes it can differ by 50+ points. I'm never late on a payment , and pay most off in full each month within a week of the statement - mainly the Citi - sometimes the Discover keeps a small balance. And even with doing that my scores fluctuate all the time.

I think FICO scores are like gas prices. There's no "real" justifiable reason for them to fluctuate day-to-day, month-to-month like they do. it's just a game, or a ruse.

I have creditwise through capital one also. From the screen with the inquiry count click on 'report' then scroll down and click on inquiries. You'll see who it was there.

It does not say on my report. But I was wrong. It's inquires in the last 2 years not 30 days...My mistake. They do have a drop down box to send them a question about your score and I've inquired about the 1 inquiry. Pretty sure I know who it was, but good to be certain.. Also Credit wise tells you their score is not your FICO score. As a poster says above it's the way "they do it". My score dropped 2 points and I don't know why.

You don’t have a link on the report that says how many inquiries that you can click on? It’s be weird you don’t since I have exact same thing. Credit wise through capital one. And I can see it

Yes, I can click on it and a box comes up showing the % of people that have had this # of credit inquires. It's 33% in the past 2 years. Then there are 4 circles. My 33% falls in the Good range. There is no mention of Who or what company made the inquiry. Again, it's for 2 years. There are 3 more circles 30 days, 60 days and 90 days which each show a 0.

Just a side note. I normally never look at this (creditwise) until recently, because I am thinking of moving. I regularly use and like the free credit report from Discover. This comes each month and says if my name has been found on any dark web sites and gives my score which is I think the FICO score and about 30 points higher. I don't owe a penny to either Capital One or Discover.
