Has anyone found a regular doctor through using Urgent Care? It's simply to much red tape for me to regular doctor with the transfer of records and virtual appointments, which I can't do .Only worry is no Bp medicine.

#2Any urgent care doctor I've ever had was useless compared to my regular doctor.
Just my experience though. He diagnosed an allergic reaction of mine as "anxiety".Comment -

#3Urgent care should only be used for cuts, scrapes, sprains, sore throats, vaccinations, acute pain or allergic reactions, etc......
A real doctor will examine you, order some tests or xrays or whatever is appropriate that ails you, then interpret those results and plan a treatment or refer you to a specialistComment -

#4I've been with my PCP for 30 years. I've wanted a MJ card or at least a CBD card for a while now and he refuses to comply. I'm over 60 years old and that's all I know is that Indica smoke and certain CBD ointments aid my sleep and shoulder pain. Going to my local Kathy's Urgent Care tomorrow because I heard an ad on the radio. Will keep you advised.Comment -

#5My mom lived to be 95 and used one of these type places until she was 90 and became very sick. The difference is that she lived in the country and allways got the same lady doctor at the place. When you live in a big city, it's very different, like a crapshoot. Although I will say more than 25 years ago, I had the flu and went to one The doctor was very good and diagnosed it right. That's before, I had a regular doctor for the last 20 plus years.Comment -

#6i like the urgent care by me if it is on the weekend or after regular hours and my doctor is closed. my current primary has very limited hours so if i plan on working it is hard to see him on a work day unless i take a half day. urgent care diagnosed by shingles and tested me for strep a couple of times.
the only thing i find with urgent care is they do not know your history nor do they look back at history for previous visits and such so there is little to go by except for what you walk in with. urgent care will talk in absolutes while my primary will look at history and see numbers and analyze, etc.Comment -

#7Urgent care mostly staffed with np's with a medical director overseeing the operation. You should just ask your pcp for a referral to a new practice.Comment -

#11dude if you’re only getting bp meds just transfer to a doc in his group. Even if you go outside his group the transfer of records is simple, sign a release forms and the secretaries take care of the rest.
As for virtual appointments, theyre preferred but there are many ppl unable to do them so any doc will have options for youComment -

#12Its best you develop a relationship with a Primary Care Doctor that is an internist. As you grow older you will need an experienced doctor for your medical needs... Urgent Cares are useful at times. I want a relationship with an MD that has all my records, knows my history, has all my blood work, notifies me when different annual procedures are due etc.Comment -
