ANCHORAGE, Alaska, January 14, 2020 (ENS) – The Trump administration has begun to auction off roughly one-third of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil drilling. It is no coincidence that this lease sale was announced with only a few weeks left in the Trump presidency, as President Donald Trump is eager to kickstart Arctic oil drilling before leaving the White House on January 20.
The refuge is home to some of the most diverse and spectacular wildlife in the Arctic, according to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. “The refuge’s rich pageant of wildlife includes 42 fish species, 37 land mammals, eight marine mammals, and more than 200 migratory and resident bird species,” the USFWS says.
The refuge is a vast, remote wilderness where wildlife has been thriving. It is a haulout for seals, a year-round home for polar bears and Dall sheep, a caribou nursery, a hunting ground for wolves and ermine, and a maze for lemmings. Mammals there range in size from the Pigmy shrew, weighing 1/10th of an ounce, to the bull moose, weighing nearly 1,400 pounds.
On December 18, 2020, the Bureau of Land Management, BLM, announced the Trump administration’s plan for oil exploration in the refuge, as the agency is managing the lease sale.Comment -
Supreme Court deals major blow to Keystone XL project

Washington (CNN)The Supreme Court on Monday cleared the way for several pipeline projects to proceed under a fast-track permitting process but excluded the controversial Keystone XL expansion from their ruling, forcing major delays.
Though the case is a partial win for the Trump administration, the exclusion of Keystone XL is a major defeat for a President who made good on a campaign promise to move forward with the project through executive order.
A federal judge in May sided with environmental groups, requiring that new oil and gas pipelines must undergo a lengthy permitting and regulation process in order to build across bodies of water.
That judge's ruling canceled the so-called "Nationwide Permit 12" for several new pipelines, which authorized and fast-tracked work on pipelines that run across bodies of water. That ruling stated that the Army Corps of Engineers did not adequately consider the projects' environmental impact on endangered species. The ruling required the projects that received such a permit to stop construction while the environmental impact study was completed.Comment -

Oil refineries
The Suncor Energy (Petro Canada) refinery near Edmonton has a capacity of 142,000 barrels per day (22,600 m3/d) of crude oil. The Imperial Oil Strathcona Refinery near Edmonton has a capacity of 187,200 barrels per day (29,760 m3/d).
So when given the choice of making a new one or trying to make the capacity bigger at their own fields they do neither. But depend on us to process theirs. yes. i know we are supposed to make everyone happy. If Trump would of kept to his mantra than he would of never started it again.
I don't want that shit at all. Canada has their own oil processing plant.Comment
