So far I've found someone else's gambling spreadsheet, and I'm trying to reverse-engineer it. Not quite sure how they got the formulas working the way they did, but it's a start.

Skim any "for dummies" books first couple chapter should give you that information. You also don't need excel if thats all you're doing, you can get by fine with openoffice. And 95% of the formulas are the same.
