Will DSI Poker Final Table Chop? Why do it all in any tournament?
All poker players feel they are the best (or top 5 ) players in the world.
Yet when the final table is down only few left just about everyone wants to chop. Why??

You are playing for the adrenline rush, the competition, yet when the pressure picks up generally everyone wants to chop.

Best thing WSOP did was Ban the Chop.

Take the Bash final table. This chop was done to be friendly, I know. But come on, the competition in front of room full of people makes it all the more fun. The money meant nothing to either of these guys. They probably would have paid it feel the rush any other time.

So what are the chances the dsi Poker Table Final table chops?

Can posters actually TRUST the other poster to send them a cheque for $1,000 or more?

Who all is willing to play it out the end?

Final table will not be an issue for me but how about the rest of you?

I had no problem with the chop at the Bash. The two finalists are both super nice guys and good poker players. It wasn't like there was a big cheering section for each guy like you see on TV tourneys.
We'd been in there all afternoon. Some folks didn't want to miss the finish, but probably just wanted it to be over so they could have some downtime before supper.

As for the DSI tourney (if I'm lucky enough to qualify), pretty hard to chop over the internet with posters you've never met, but I'd be comfortable doing it with most of the people I met at the bash.

Would I? Probably not, for the same reasons you list.

First time I played live everyone wanted to chop the final table. Pissed me off, but I didn't know enough to argue at the time.

What happens if one person does not agree? Does the rest of the table then gang up to knock him out first?

Unlikely there will be a chop. I've seen the final script and Beerdog99 wins the DSI Championship. It's common knowledge that BD is a stiff and not to be trusted, so chopping with BD will just result in heartache for anyone who takes that path.

          LOL, this is ironic.

The Binions tourney I won, basically most of the table wanted to chop but Sinmeido would not. He wanted to play for the win, I personally wanted to lock up the $200 as I was felted if I did not win anything.

So to answer the basic question, there are a number of reasons, I imagine the big one is to lock up a $$ win and lessen the variance that happens when short handed play starts.

It would also depend on the chip stacks, if one player has the table covered, there is little incentive for the big stack to chop unless they are given a premium over above the chip stack percentages.

I like how Pokerstars does it. They basically allow you to do anything everyone agrees with but their standard is (or was) save a reasonable amount for the winner pot (to allow it to play out) but then break up the rest of the prize pool based on chip stack percentages.

I would most likely chop with someone know/trust at SBR and I imagine, SBR can send the agreed amounts directly to the guys based on the agreement reached. Pokerstars used to pause the game when the table wanted to discuss a chop deal, maybe SBR could do that to....

          Cheers and good luck all!

I can see people getting irritated at the hold out but they can rarely "gang-up" without it being obvious and then the floor would be called to deal with the collusion/soft play.

Nice, so since the script is already written that I win (which I think I deserve!), then there would be no need for me to chop with any of you hacks.....

Can you gang up on a internet tourney? What if you chat and say all get xxx so we can chop. Then even with chat touned off the plan is in motion. Has anyone ever seen a tourney where winnings where deleted (other than for being too young?)

Sorry Aggie, I'm having trouble understanding what you mean, but your initial question about chopping in the DSI tournament is a good one. I think SBR should discuss the option of a chop and everything it entails (pausing tournament, letting only the players left in the tournament be able to chat, and SBR sending out new "chopped" checks) or telling us that chops are not allowed.

I would personally chop, but it would have to be with someone I know pretty well on here, so that makes it limited group.

Seat 8. Worst seat in the tourney with Sin Miedo to my left.

Where were you???? I saw your name tag at registration.

WTF. I was on the list.

My *v *i*s* was oversea and I got it back a couple of weeks before the bash. I ask Sam if it was possible and he said sure. Then I went looking for a reasonable flight. I was only able to find one the night before the bash. Would have very, very tight but was set to pull the trigger. Just felt it was too late to confirm for the bash and sure didn't want to feel like a outsider barred from all functions.

But Sam did register me??? Man am I crushed, if I knew that I would have been there for sure.

So crushed again for not going.

PS Bracerman - the guy on the right looks alot like you too. Who was that?

i doubt this will get chopped unless guys at the end know each other personally.

It is Justin7. I never thought he would be playing poker, so never considered him.

I sure hope he is not pisseeddd that I said you two look alike.
