How do ratings work?

Couldn't find one.
I'm pretty new and my rating was a 1463 and it was too high for a table that I wanted to join

if you go to the lobby in the poker forum it tells you about your rating it goes by the people at the table how much has been bet in your past and other factors

the ratings are pretty out of whack in my (and others opinion). Here is the link to the information on the ratings that SBR provided and the "Sanctuary" tables where this "rating" is applied. I did not even re-read the thread but I think you need lower than 1450 to sit at a Sanctuary table.
