Playing 1/2 NL and very first hand bought in for 150

Like most small NL games everyone throws in $2 and gets to me in BB with AKs. I make it 18 just hoping to end in right there. But two people call. Flop comes KT3 rainbow. I lead out and bet 35 and one guy calls other guy folds. Turn comes Q and I bet 65 and dude calls. Pretty sure I am beat now but at least I have few outs with gut shot. Blank comes on river and I got 32 left and stick it all in and dude calls. He has KT for two pair.

I think that since you are always complaining about no one helping the poor you should have donated that money to charity instead of betting it.

Really not much else you can do preflop. He calls you with k10 for that amount of money and sbr'ed you basically. I like the bets. The river you were stuck because if you check hes betting and you have to call there.

What kind of a player is the villain? I don't like the 75 bb buy in and I don't like the turn.

I like the super aggressive bets in the start. You might want to calm down on the turn and maybe check it down though. Not really a fan of having all my money in like that with only top pair top kicker in NL. If the guy bets you have to get chips in, but otherwise I think your best off slowing down on the turn against most players.

It's tough to start a table and guess your opponents' range of hands. I would have worried about a possible set, and after the turn, possibly KQ. I wouldn't have been able to put them on KT.

IF whole table limped in 10 handed game I would have made my big blind raise greater.

Not played near as bad as that other one you posted the other day though

                    Agreed on both counts.

                    You must punish the limpers.

Preflop: It depends upon how many limpers, but $18 isn't a mistake.

Flop: $35 isn't bad, but $50 is better. The larger bet makes a turn all-in look more reasonable for an opponent to call. By betting $35 you have the same likelyhood of getting called on the flop, but it will be harder to get called on the turn because your all-in will be larger.

Turn: Betting 2/3 of your stack is a mistake. Shove. Even though the Q is the worst card in the deck for you, you have a strong hand and the pot is huge relative to the size of your stack. Get it in. A case could be made for check/calling for pot control, but at a loose table like this it's smarter to value bet.

River: As played, put it in and don't think twice about it.

                      Just my opinion...

With your stack size you did not do anything wrong. Its just a cooler .If he has qj or kj there he is stuck calling the 65 too on the turn and your still ahead.KQ and a set should be the only hands you have to worry about here .Terrible call kt pre for 18 .Just bad luck he out flopped you.The guy is so bad he def would have paid you off with kj and qj here too so you didnt do anything wrong considering your stack size, just got unlucky

You did not play this badly at all. This is just a cooler hand. You isolated, which was the correct move. You hit top pair, and protected your hand, which was the right move.

"Hoping to end it right there" is a strange thing to say though. What you really want in that situation is an isolation with an inferior hand, which you got. Unfortunately you got screwed on the flop

Making it 18 to go, I'd assume your giving up too much information. Guy probably knew you were a nit and put you on QQ at the absolute worst. He knew he could get your whole stack.

Poping it pre was a good play. But being your first hand the table could have been full of loose players. You ended up isolating yourself out of position. The turn bet basically made you pot committed. Rebuy in and punish anyone who'd limp/call a big pre flop raise with KT.
