This is how you win. I guess I'm just posting this here because I'm drunk and because this is such an unread sbrsubforum. If anyone has followed poker over the years you would know I joined nwp in 2004 and switched over to boris when nwp become dd.
If you don't have a clue what those mean then you haven't been around all that long and that's ok. When I first started playing in October '04 I had 8k in my bank account and was at univeristy -- parents had a savings account of $x for my university sutdies and that's why I still had cash in my own accoutn. My buddy invited me to a poker game at his place one night and I went. I lost 80 bucks but loved it and me being the fish I was he invited me back again the next week. I lost $120 that time. I stayed after and he introduced me to pokerstars. I went home and signed up playing on the play money tables. I felt I was better and wanted to play real money. My buddy had cash online and I asked him if he could transfer me some and I would pay him. I remember sitting down at 0.50/1 fixed limit and loved it. I lost it of course and asked him if I could buy some more but he didn't ahve any. I had ************ and decided to try buying chips.... I went home for Christmas and was in overdraft. Ran out of money and overdraft mid-January and had to confess to my parents. Fucken sucked to say the least. They gave me an allowance of $90/week and paid for my rent. I still watched and played at the casino when I saved enough. Let's jump ahead to September '05 and I learned about propping. You probably haven't heard that term but if you're into online poker then you need to know about it. I began at www.pokerprops.com and http://www.madpokerprops.com/ and it was fucken amazing. I played at gamesgrid.com, pokerworld.com and mansionpoker.com.
What propping means, is that you get payed to play. It's called rakeback. I got 180% rakeback at Mansion, meaning that every dolalr in rake I put in a pot, I was paid $1.80. For the europeans, rake is same as commission. What this means is let's say I'm playing heads up (1 vs 1) with jjfold. We both put $50 into the pot for a total pot of $100 and $3 rake is taken. Because I put half of $3 rake -- $1.50 I get 180% of that back -- meaning the site put $2.90 back into my account.
I would get the rakeback every week and it was great -- because I would typically lose it after a day or 2 at most. I hated losing it and knowing I would have to wait another 6 days so I began being more patient and making it last. Long story short I finally overcame being a loser and started winning. It was all because of propping. If you don't play online for cash I don't recommend evening looking into this but if you are playing online for cash then definitely begin doing this. You won't get the rakeback numbers I originally got but you can still get high rakeback for the new sites.
