Just that, no right answer with this one but your response may indicate where you are as a poker player...

    opp. hand

even without a strong hand you can still bluff off an opp. that has a weak hand

      Agreed.
Likewise, even if you are sitting on the nuts it is very tough to extract a lot of chips from an opponent who has junk in his hand.

It depends on how your opponents play if your opponents cards or your cards are more valueable information.

I am probably the most inexperienced poker player around... I would say.... worry about your opponent more than anything.

That depends if the table is tight or not.. If the table is tight, opponent's hand.. If table is loose, your hand

JJ gold would have a totally different approach to this question.

Well certinly, thats poker 101, but poker hands still play a part unless you are Tony Robbins or Derrin Brown. Are you claiming to be good enough at it to insult people? Highly unlikely

Its easy to say your opponents hand, but how well are you at reading your opponent in determining how strong (or weak) he is? Reading or manipulating your opponent isnt easy for everyone. Just playing according to Skylanskys hand strength guide and table position for example could be more beneficial for some and a case for your own hand being more important. Especially if you are an online multi-tabler.

In Live poker however, knowing your competition and their hand range is obviously extremely important so certainly I would say your opponents hand in this situation.

Who here takes notes in Live games?

I vote for my hand, I think math should dictate a heavy % of your decisons. I would think it's rare that you would have that good of a read on an opponents hand. Agression can go a long way however........

                            Well it depends.

If you are holding the best hand possible after the river then obviously is yours. But if you are not holding the best hand possible then obviously your opponent's.

In live poker, your cards are almost immeterial... play the person not the cards.

Depends on many factors, in limit Holdem, as the # of players at your table increases the strength of your hand must increase and vice versa..

It is hard to "make" a hand in Holdem, people that don't understand this can be exploited in shorter games...

No Limit is a whole different animal...

After playing a million + hands every decision becomes automatic unless you are playing some super high stakes cash games like 500/1000 NL
