Anybody watch Pokerstars "The Big Game"?

I haven't watched it, but I did play 1/2 NL with the producers and one of the contestants at South Point (where the show is taped). The loose cannon was this obnoxious bus driver from Boston... he's exactly the kind of attention whore that always gets on tv poker shows and then gets flamed online for acting like a douche. He was so annoying that one of the producers actually asked the guy not to talk to him while he was playing at the table.

Of the many strange things about the guy, the oddest was the way he interacted with his girlfriend. For example: they both sat down at the table together, but after about 10 minutes he told her "I didn't want you to play poker with me, you were supposed to watch me. Whaddaya doin'?"

"Oh, sorry. I didn't know," she replied, and then without any hesitation racked up and sat directly behind him. A couple hours later he let her buy back into the game.

The commentators are the best part of the show imo. That Joe Stapleton guy, very funny.

I like this show, but I think high stakes poker is a lot better. Also from all the people they can choose to be a loose cannon, they seem to chose some of the biggest retards.

This weeks episodes were the best. It was so cool to see PH smacked down so hard.

Is Amanda still with Joe Sebok? She is smoking hot and they seem to nicely play that up also.

Joe Stapleton and Ali Nejad are the best poker commentators, followed closely by Gabe Kaplan. IMHO.

I would love to hear why "twarrior1" thinks it is the worst.... Worse than WPT??? LMAO.

i love the show...is way better than poker after dark at the same time...still think high stakes is better than the big game, but watch both of them religiously

this is right up there with high stakes. This show has a cool concept but high stakes has the most action and best play. I like to watch high stakes more since patrik plays there and he is the best player in my opinion.

Phil Hellmuth Jr. hates the show though haha.. Twice he was outdrew by loose cannons on the river in 2 huge pots.

A very annoying older guy with dark hair and a thick Boston accent. I don't know if they aired his show yet... in fact, I don't know if he even got on at all. IIRC I played with him on a Wednesday and he was supposed to be on a Friday taping.

Most of the loose cannons have been passive and suck. Jeez it's free money! They should come out firing because the pro's always give them a hand to start out with until they figure them out.

Come on your an 11 time world champion with millions in winnings and you up against and amateur player and it takes you 15 minutes to decide what to do.

I think the show and the concept of the loose cannon is great. Nadia seems to be the best loose cannon so far. The most skilled of them all.

Anyone catch the hand when Loose Cannon Troy Howard had QQ with about 20 hands left? Viffer bluffed him on the river and showed him. I seriously thought the dude was gonna cry. Good Stuff!!!

High Stakes Poker season 7 tapes after the November Nine and is expected to air next year.

That was gold.

The show started slow early on but its grown on me, good entertainment.

hsp is still the best but only season 1-5, after that it started going down hill with the changes.

In Canada it is on Sportsnet every weeknight. for the last couple of episodes though, the show has been messed up and so I have watched them on www.pokerstars.tv. Good quality and just a day behind.
