how many people play poker at a local home game??
Was just wondering how many people play in local home games or underground games? If you do, what limits are played? how many tables are there usually? how is the action?

    Thanks to all that help!

I have a ton of games. Most $1/$2, some deeper $1/$2 ($200 Min), some $2/$5, a few $5/$5, and a $5/$10. I have never been to any of the $25/$50 I have heard about, just wouldn't feel safe. It depends on the place. Some places are lucky to have one table, others have 2-3 regularly, a very select few have 5+. Action is always much better offline then on. People get crazy, feel the need to show off their roll and make some bad mistakes. The last $1/$2 game I was at some guy played from 8-6am and at the end was down $3,100. I don't know how anyone allows themselves to lose that much at a $1/$2 but it was more like a $5/$5 with how big the stacks were in that game.

My suggestion is if you don't know many games go to home games, make friends there, they will take you to other games and just keep getting numbers for games. I can find two games a night nowadays within minutes. Safety can come to be a concern. I was at a game where two guys started trying to kick in the door with masks and guns. We ran out the front and they eventually got nervous as they couldn't kick through the 2nd door in time and ran out with no money. This was at a $1/$2 game. Just always be cautious. Stick to casinos and online if you can. Games around here got robbed a lot and since that night I have tryed to limit the games I go to down to just the ones that are in a house with all people the guy who runs the game knows.

    Be safe.

Most home games are 100 NL and under but it really depends on a lot of factors. Carry a dummy wallet and don't bring your credit cards/loads of cash in the rare event that a robbery occurs. Of course you want to have enough cash to survive a few bad beats if the fish are juicy but unless everyone is unknown you can usually get a marker and repay it (this may not work if you're new to the game). Other than that don't be afraid of every shadow and just enjoy the game.

What? We are talking about home games here, and I have never seen a sit and go toruney at a home game. It's dealers choice around here. The games limits vary from a minimum of $1.00 to a maximum of $5000.00 or more. Texas Hold' em is not played a lot because that is the game that takes the least amount of skill to win in. We play a lot of stud. No wild care games. Occasionally we play a high/low game like 7 stud Hi/Lo 8 or Omaha Hi/Lo 8.

I have a few places I play at. One underground place gets like 20-35 guys a night to play at. There stakes are usually 1/2, 2/5, or sometimes 5/10 if people want to jump it up. My buddy runs a game about 3-4 times a week where he plays 1/2 or $100 tourny, usually about 15-20 people for that game. And theres this sick place i play at but only for the tourny the dude runs. The guy runs his game once a month and its a $250 tourny that gets at least 30 guys but normally around 50 guys. People travel from miles and miles away to play in this dudes game because after the tourny the dude runs sick cash games. Ive seen the stakes at this joint reach as high as 25/50 NL and 200/400 limit. Its ridiculous.

We have a weekly tourney.. amateur players $30 buy-in.. top 5 players paid out of the 30 people that play. It's all for fun, and a reason to have a few beers.
