Many of you who have been on SBR for quite a while knew of Jack Mats. He was a pretty good poker player and enjoyed each one of you at the tables. My boy will be sorely missed.

I remember Jack as a good poker player, R.I.P.

Tripe had him listed as a favorite in this 2012 Championship tourney:

          That really sucks, Gary.

Were you friends with him off the forum?

He was a nice guy and a good poker player.

I liked his avatar with his dog was his co pilot on a plane.

Well the thing about that is: I remember when he was very active in this regard, probably playing on a daily basis or close. But he was definitely one of those common names/faces who seemed in recent years to show up from time to time but not consistently, certainly not every day or even close.

So I guess it depends what you mean by regularly also. Again, I don't think in recent years he was playing every day or even close to that. If he played say once a week, does that count as regularly? Guess it depends on your view! But obviously if he was playing say once a week, you might essentially never see him playing/have him at your table so would be easy to think he wasn't playing at all anymore!

That was his avatar, maybe that will help?

If I remember correctly, I think his dog's name was Mushu.

Sad to hear, I had just assumed he drifted away during one of my breaks, didn't know it was health issues. Was one of the most consistent SBR poker players, always on top.

Damn I remember Jack well. Sometimes quiet at the tables but would talk plenty if you struck up a convo with him. He was a good dude. I remember being on the USA team the last I recall him being very active. Hate to hear this
