Got it back with interest with Quads again a few hands later.
Nice, I've been spectating some of the omaha games on the weekend but don't feel I know the hands well enough to be comfortable playing myself yet. The high low split thing is confusing for me, prefer to stick to holdem

Hey Phin, Omaha Hi/Lo is a fun and pretty easy game for the basics. A nice break from NL in my opinion. I would suggest you try some games with the below basic directions:

!!!!!.....All hands use two cards from your hand and three cards from the board......!!!!
      1) All hands are just like Holdem, the best 5 cards (using two of your cards) will win (or split) the low and and the high hand.
      2) Low hands are 8 and below, the best 5 cards (using two of your hole cards) the best hand is Ace through 5 (any suits).
      3) the winning low hand takes half the pot.
      4) The high hand is exactly same as holdem (using two of your hole car4)
      5) The winning high hand takes half the pot, unless there is no low hand, then the high-hand takes the entire pot.
      6) there is no low hand possible (i.e. qualifying) if you do not have two cards in your hand that are 8 or lower and 3 cards on the board lower than 8. (therefore for a total of 5 different cards under 8, three on the board and two in your hand)
      7) Guidelines:
-- Try to scoop the pot, i.e. make the best low and high hand to take the entire pot.
-- If you are only going for 1/2 the pot, try for the high pot and rarely for the low (assuming there are multiple people in the pot).
-- Omaha plays a lot for the "nuts" on high and low, so for example, a naked pair of Aces is or even sets rarely win (depending on the board) and for lows, hands that do not have A 2 in them, rarely win (again depending on the board).

I am sure I have missed a few things but I think that is a pretty basic and quick summary of how to play. You will get the hang of it and have some break from NL boredom.
      Hope you find this useful.

Good job BD. And don't forget the most important summary. It takes about 5k worth of donations to really get the feel of it.

Was years ago. Had 3 3 and flop came 3 3 garbage. Guy pushes all in and turns over two Queens. Turn Q and River Q.

I would have paid SBR to have the honor of doling out that bad beat.

I got a new worst beat yesterday fellas courtesy of dogkatcher (nice hand )

4 people in the hand blinds are 75/150

I have k8 and the flop goes kk8. I'm first to act and check trying to lay my slowplay trap

dogkatcher bets 150, other 2 fold and i call

                            turn is a 4

i bet 150 and and am raised to 300 by dogkatcher so i call

river is another 4, i go all in w my last 900, hes got me covered and calls

                            he shows pocket 4's

I suppose I deserved this for slowplaying, but it still hurts

That's pretty tough I agree, but I would not be hard on yourself for slowplaying. Imagine if the fourth 4 doesn't come on the river (which it won't vast majority of the time!), you probably stack him instead.

In general, I find with slowplaying that people are way too results oriented. Sometimes when you slowplay, yes you get burned because of it. It's a risk/reward play which doesn't always work. But when it happens to backfire, too many people immediately criticize the player who slowplayed (even if it was themselves!) saying that it was stupid to do that - again a totally resultist attitude. You made a decision in the hope that it would win you more chips, and many times it would have - most likely overall those times it wins you more outweigh the times you lose when it happens to backfire.

As for my worst beat on SBR, don't have any HHs but had several nut flushes in omaha lose to straight flushes on non-paired boards. But I think my worst was deep in some daily hold'em tourney when I got AA, got it allin three ways with both my opponents having QQ. Well board wound up coming JT98x - and that was unfortunate for me!
